🌍 Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025: Windhoek, Namibia

On 13 October 2025, 20 passionate young people from youth-led NGOs, universities, and tertiary institutions came together to shape Namibia’s climate future through the NDC 3.0 and National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes. 💪🌿

The consultations empowered youth to understand and influence Namibia’s climate priorities, from renewable energy and sustainable agriculture to disaster risk reduction and ecosystem restoration. Participants called for inclusive engagement, especially of youth with disabilities, stronger climate education, and the creation of a Youth Climate Advisory Platform to sustain participation in national policy processes.

✨ Key outcomes:
· Youth recommendations for NDC 3.0 & NAP stakeholder engagement
· Calls for climate justice and green job opportunities
· Strengthened national youth climate networks

Namibian youth are ready to lead local action and drive meaningful change for a resilient future.

🌍 As we continue with Climate Week, we are glad to attend the official opening of the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Running from 8–10 September 2025, ACS2 is one of the biggest climate summits in Africa, bringing together heads of state, policymakers, innovators, and civil society to shape solutions for a resilient and green future.

The opening was marked by an inspiring keynote from H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, who emphasized that Africa is not here to negotiate its survival but to design the world’s next climate economy. From Ethiopia’s Green Legacy to the launch of the Africa Climate Innovation Compact, the call is clear: Africa’s solutions must be African-led and African-owned.

We are proud to have Ms. Imanuel representing Namibia and our organization at this historic gathering, and we look forward to her insights and contributions as the summit progresses.

The Youth Academy on Climate Adaptation and Leadership 2025 brought together youth leaders from more than 50 countries in Africa to Nairobi, Kenya, from 30 August to 6 September 2025.

It was a platform for regional voices to present their countries’ climate issues while highlighting local solutions, alongside experiential training in proposal writing, grant management, project implementation and monitoring, communication, education, leadership, entrepreneurship, conflict transformation, and program development.

The Global Center on Adaptation also provided its model and results, illustrating how global action could be scaled and replicated nationally and locally at the community level. The academy reminded GCA that leadership is a calling not by age, gender, or title and highlighted Africa’s youth as both an affliction and an opportunity to build resilience.

It concluded with the Pan-African Youth Adaptation Forum, a graduation, and a cultural exchange celebrating unity, learning, and networks created.

Our organization, Youth4CAN was privileged to be involved as the In-Country Focal Point of the African Youth Adaptation Network for Namibia. Representing us was our Executive Secretary, Elizabeth Mughongora, representing not only Youth4CAN, but Namibian youth in general. She was joined by fellow Namibian, Des-Rose, a member of the GCA CEO Advisory Panel, further amplifying Namibia’s voice in this continental climate resilience movement.

Vote (NAMIBIA 1) to become Namibia’s Youth Adaptation Network focal point.
The Youth Adaptation Network is the youth chapter of the Global Center on Adaptation, an international organization working to accelerate action on adapting to climate change. GCA supports adaptation solutions at international and local levels partnering with public and private-sector. Being a focal point for YAN means forming partnership to support the work of the network here in Namibia and strengthening adaptation initiatives at grassroots level.

Our ‘’Bridging Climate Change Capacity Gaps of the Marginalised San, Ovatue, Ovatjimba and Ovazemba Communities and Promotion of Youth-led Climate Action’’ Project was selected as one of the projects to be showcased at the UNFCCC SB62 ACE Gallery session in Bonn, Germany 🇩🇪.

This afternoon, we showcased the project, telling the story of its success to the SB62 parties, observers and participants at an in-person interaction session. We are grateful to have had Madam Patricia Bamanyaki from the CDKN Uganda Chapter to represent and present on our behalf.

We are even happier to learn that the gallery session was a great success, and we received a few visitors who interacted at our exhibition point.

Special appreciation to Mrs Mirjam Kaholongo, who facilitated the printing of this beautiful poster in Bonn, Germany. 💚💚
