Good day
Today Friday 20th May 2022, we are delighted to inform you that we were able to source some funds from our San - BushPride Excellence Restoration Project to assist some of the students from Marginalized Communities at Emona hostel:
* 7 students from Omaheke Region were assisted with Toiletries
*17 students with the inclusion of the 7 from Omaheke were also assisted with the taxi funds and some food to help them in the meantime whilst they await their allowance payments from the programme for marginalized communities. Due to late registration some students especially those from Omaheke could receive their allowance hence us stepping in to assist them seeing that they stay at Emona hostel but attend classes offcampus.
This project was founded by Mr. Marthinus Garab and his wife Mrs. Beverly -a Silas-Garas with the aim to restore the dignity of the most vulnerable in society, Indigenous minorities (marginalized communities) and elderly. The project is an extension of advocacy for evangelism and service to Christ and with the assistance of our partners in Christ and other individuals we will restore the dignity of our people through various projects based on availability of funds.
As the NYC Board Director and representative for marginalized communities this is one of the ways in which aid could be sourced in my personal capacity seeing that National Youth Council of Namibia is a state-owned enterprise that's affliation-based and sometimes immediate financial aid and welfare needs cannot be provided for by NYC as its mandate is towards all Namibian Youth.
Moving forward the NYC is currently busy with the consultation process of helping Youth from marginalized communities to form a Youth organisation for their active participation and inclusion in various programmes, projects...
I therefore urge students to work together, be organised as a group and give it their all academically.
In the near future I will see if I can arrange meetings so we can engage, motivate, train you on financial literacy, leadership and general life and ethical guidance so as to provide moral and psycho-social support to our students as they conquer through their academic journey.
Feel free to contact me when you need assistance, also try to first solve student problems through your Reps, Student affairs officer or officials at the programme for Marginalized Communities at the Office of the President: Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare and the office of the Deputy Minister for Marginalized Communities.... so we can work hand in hand to give you the best support we can.
Be prayerful and study hard.
With love
Beverly -a Silas-Garas
