On 11 June 2026, the APRM National Secretariat held a meeting with Desk Officers from institutions responsible for implementing the APRM National Programmes of Action (NPoAs).

The session focused on strengthening understanding of the APRM mandate and clarifying the roles of Desk Officers as preparations begin for the development of the Progress Report on the implementation of Namibia's APRM Country Review Report.

Mses. Chuma Siboleka & Kahewa Endjala from APRM Namibia participated in the Seminar for International Organisation Officials from English-Speaking African Countries, hosted by Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) in Jinhua, China, from 20 May to 2 June 2026.

The programme offered insights into governance, development planning and China–Africa cooperation, combining lectures, field visits and cultural exchange across Jinhua, Shanghai, and Ningbo.

Key lessons included the role of digital governance and one-stop public service delivery and strengthening partnerships through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and South–South cooperation.

RETREAT | The APRM National Structures commenced their joint Fourth Annual Retreat on 18 May 2026 in Swakopmund, Erongo Region.

In his remarks, the National Focal Point & CEO, Amb. Lineekela J. Mboti, highlighted that the retreat is meant to provide strategic direction at the start of a new implementation period and to strengthen coordination and alignment of deliverables between the National Governing Council (NGC) and the African Peer Review Mechanism National Secretariat Namibia.

Amb. Wilfried I. Emvula, Chairperson of the NGC, in his statement, emphasized that the 3rd NGC has been tasked with ensuring effective implementation of the APRM mandate in Namibia and supporting the priorities of the 8th Administration.

The retreat will conclude on 22 May 2026.

Amb. Lineekela J. Mboti, Focal Point & CEO of the African Peer Review Mechanism National Secretariat Namibia, participated in the 5th Annual Joint Retreat between the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and the African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC), held from 29 to 30 April in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Held under the theme “Governance, Early Warning and Preventive Diplomacy: Strengthening Institutional Synergies for a Peaceful Africa”, the retreat brought together stakeholders to strengthen collaboration between governance and peace and security institutions across the continent.

Discussions focused on improving governance-based conflict prevention, strengthening early warning systems and advancing preventive diplomacy. The retreat also aimed to better integrate APRM data and insights into PSC deliberations to support informed decision-making and actionable outcomes.

The participation of the delegation shows the APRM National Secretariat’s commitment to promoting good governance as a foundation for peace and stability in Africa.

Yesterday, the African Peer Review Mechanism Technical Support Mission on International Credit Ratings continued its stakeholder engagements in Namibia.

The Mission engaged with:
• The Executive Director of the Ministry of Finance-Namibia and his support team
• Mr Titus Nampala, CEO of the NCCI - Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• Mr Sam Shivute, Commissioner of the Namibia Revenue Agency-NamRA
• The Namibia Securities Exchange

These engagements form part of ongoing consultations to strengthen Namibia’s engagement with international credit rating agencies.

In pictures: The African Peer Review Mechanism Technical Support Mission on International Credit Ratings held engagements on 27 April with Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) and stakeholders under its supervision.

The engagement was led by Amb. Wilfried I. Emvula, Chairperson of the APRM National Governing Council.

Further engagements were held with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and the Bank of Namibia (BoN).
