OTJOZONDJUPA REGION | The high school engagements continued in the Otjozondjupa Region, with visits to Tsumkwe Secondary School on Monday, 21 September, and Otjiwarongo Secondary School yesterday, 23 September.

At Tsumkwe Secondary School, learners were introduced to the work of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Namibia and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mr Jeffrey Gomme, Youth Officer from the Education Directorate in Tsumkwe, also highlighted opportunities provided by the Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC).

Dr Alfons Witbeen, Director of Operations at the APRM National Secretariat, encouraged learners to take their education seriously and make use of the opportunities available to them.

The engagement at Otjiwarongo Secondary School continued the discussion on the SDGs and the APRM. Ms Johanna Iitondoka, Youth Officer from the MEIYSAC, Directorate Otjozondjupa Region, shared information on opportunities for out-of-school youth.

Dr Witbeen also encouraged learners to remain in school and for those considering higher education, to carefully consider their choice of study in relation to future employment opportunities.

OHANGWENA REGION | Continuing the high school engagements, APRM Namibia, with the support of GIZ Namibia, engaged learners at Haimbili Haufiku SSS in Eenhana on Monday, 21 September, and Ponhofi Secondary School in Helao Nafidi on Tuesday, 22 September.

The engagements focused on the African Peer Review Mechanism, the African Union Agenda 2063 on the Africa We Want and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Mr Alpheus Kapolo, Senior Youth Officer, Ohangwena Regional Directorate of Education, also shared information on training and skills development opportunities available through the Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC).

KAVANGO WEST REGION | Continuing the high school engagements, APRM Namibia, with the support of GIZ Namibia, engaged learners at Kandjimi Murangi Senior Secondary School on 16 September and Himarwa Iithete Junior Secondary School in Mpungu on 17 September.

The engagements continued discussions on the African Peer Review Mechanism, the African Union Agenda 2063 on the Africa We Want, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mr Michael Muuondjo, Youth Sports Officer, Kavango West Regional Directorate of Education, also shared information with learners on training and skills development opportunities available through the Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC).

OMAHEKE REGION | Last week, on 16 and 17 September, APRM Namibia, with the support of GIZ Namibia, engaged learners at Wennie du Plessis High School and Epukiro Secondary School on the African Peer Review Mechanism, the African Union Agenda 2063 on the Africa We Want and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At Wennie Du Plessis Secondary School, Ms Kapuire Mate, Acting Senior Youth Officer, Omaheke Regional Directorate of Education, shared information on opportunities available through the Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) in training and skills development.

At Epukiro Secondary School, the engagement also highlighted Namibia’s APRM Targeted Review on Youth Unemployment and Progress.

RUNDU SECONDARY SCHOOL | Last week, 14 September, APRM Namibia with the support of GIZ Namibia engaged learners at Rundu Secondary School in the Kavango East Region on the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), the African Union Agenda 2063 on the Africa We Want, and Agenda 2030 on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The team was accompanied by Mr Goma Kandjimi Senior Youth Officer, Kavango East Regional Directorate of Education, who shared information on opportunities available through the Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) in training and skills development.

MARIENTAL SECONDARY SCHOOL | Earlier this week, APRM Namibia with the support of GIZ Namibia engaged learners at the Mariental Secondary School-MHS in the Hardap Region on the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), Agenda 2063 on the Africa We Want and Agenda 2030 on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The high school engagements are being undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC).

APRM Namibia | Regional Consultations 2026 – Oshikoto Region
Omuthiya | 11 September 2026

The APRM delegation, led by Amb. Lineekela J. Mboti, paid a combined courtesy call on the distinguished leadership of the Oshikoto Region, meeting officials from the office of the Governor, Regional Councillors, senior regional officials, and Local Authority representatives ahead of the stakeholder validation consultations in Omuthiya.

The courtesy call underscored the importance of regional leadership in the APRM process, providing a platform to discuss the objectives of the validation exercise and to strengthen partnerships ahead of the broader stakeholder consultations.

The engagement enabled the delegation to gain first-hand perspectives on governance and development issues within the region while reaffirming a shared commitment to ensuring that the voices of Oshikoto communities are reflected in Namibia’s Progress Report and future governance reforms.
