Happy World Food Safety Day!

The theme for 2026 is "From burden to solutions – safe food everywhere

Today, DAPP Namibia joins communities across the country in celebrating the importance of safe, nutritious, and sustainable food for all. Food safety begins with how we grow, handle, and share food. Through our people-to-people approach, DAPP Namibia is working alongside communities to strengthen food security while protecting health, livelihoods, and the environment.

Our Horticulture Training programmes are equipping young people with practical skills to produce healthy food and lead sustainable agricultural initiatives. Through the ADSWAC Project, implemented in partnership with ADPP Angola, farmers in Kavango East and Kavango West are building climate resilience and adopting environmentally responsible farming practices. In the Omusati Region, our Nutrition and Garden Project are helping families establish productive backyard gardens that provide nutritious food year-round while using water wisely.

Every healthy harvest strengthens a family. Every trained farmer strengthens a community. Every sustainable farming practice strengthens our future. On World Food Safety Day, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting communities to grow food that is safe, nutritious, and sustainable, for today and for generations to come.

Happy World Environment Day 2026!

The theme for World Environment Day is "Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future."

From the DAPP Namibia and ADPP Angola ADSWAC Family to yours, we celebrate the power of communities working together to protect our environment and build resilience.

As climate change brings longer dry seasons and growing challenges, communities across Namibia are taking action. Through the ADSWAC Project, farmers are using climate-smart practices to grow food with less water, while learners and teachers in Green Schools are planting trees and caring for the soil. Every tree planted, every drop of water saved, and every sustainable action taken helps create a greener, stronger future for the next generation.

Together, we are proving that lasting change starts with people working hand in hand, a reality beautifully reflected in our shared efforts: from the collective hands carefully planting in Demo Plots to the dedicated farmers nurturing crops with every saved drop of water and finally to the smiling faces celebrating the Environment, climate-resilient harvests that secure our food and our future.

Happy International Children’s Day 2026!

Today, we look at the smiling faces of our children and remember why we work so hard every day. Children are not just our future, they are our present.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple truth: every child deserves a safe place to learn, play, and grow. From our hands to their hands, from our hearts to theirs, we are building a better world together.

By giving them love, strong roots, and a good education today, we help them stand tall tomorrow. Let us listen to their voices, protect their dreams, and share the joy of childhood.

From all of us, people to people, hand in hand, Happy International Children’s Day!

Africa Day 2026 Education Fit for the 21st Century

Today, the African Union asks a question worth sitting with: what kind of education actually prepares young people for the lives they want to build?

Across the continent, millions are learning. Yet, far too few are finding the bridge between classroom lessons and the actual work, income, or businesses they need next. That gap is where the real conversation lives this Africa Day.

At DAPP Namibia, four decades of working alongside communities has taught us something simple: skills only matter when young people can truly use them to earn a living, to start an enterprise, and to actively contribute to the economies around them.

Happy Africa Day!

Vocational education is more than training, it is a pathway to livelihoods, dignity, and sustainable development. DAPP Namibia’s TVET programmes are preparing young people for the jobs of the future by integrating green skills across their training. From renewable energy to climate-resilient agriculture, youth are learning how to protect their environment while building sustainable livelihoods. This is not only about addressing climate change, it is about strengthening local economies where young people can thrive.

Small Wings, Big Impact: Celebrating World Bee Day with DAPP Namibia

Today, DAPP Namibia joins the global community in recognising World Bee Day.

Bees are quite heroes. They are essential to our ecosystems, our agriculture, and our food security. In Namibia, our unique biodiversity relies heavily on these incredible pollinators to keep our landscapes thriving.

Protecting bees means protecting our collective future. Today, let us commit to planting bee-friendly flowers, supporting local beekeepers, and avoiding harmful pesticides.

Every small action creates a buzz for positive change.

Empowering the next generation through practical education

At DAPP Vocational Training School, we give students hands-on, practical skills to succeed in the real world. By balancing classroom theory with active, on-the-job training, we ensure our youth are fully prepared to build successful careers and strengthen the modern workforce.

Every year, we celebrate the International Day of Families, recognising that strong and supportive families are essential to building a sustainable future for all. In 2026, the theme “Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing” reminds us that strengthening families is key to addressing the challenges children face today.

Join us in supporting and strengthening families at the heart of our programmes across the four thematic areas where we work, and at the centre of creating more equal and resilient communities.

Families are the foundation of strong communities and lasting development. They bring people together through shared culture, values, history, and a sense of belonging. Families build social bonds that foster harmony, solidarity, and mutual support. Their role extends beyond the home; families drive inclusion, encourage participation, and help unlock the potential of every person to contribute to community progress.

Across Namibia, DAPP Namibia is putting families at the centre of development. In 2025, we reached 347,000 people through our 22 project units across 11 regions, driven by the dedication of our 538 employees. Building on traditions of mutual support, Namibian families in our Community Development projects come together in Saving Clubs to secure funds for health, education, and everyday needs.

In our dry climate, change begins with resilient steps. Through our Backyard Gardening and ADSWAC projects, families are beating the drought by using "Food Circles" and "Greywater" to grow spinach, carrots, and tomatoes. These gardens ensure children receive fresh nutrition and families gain secure livelihoods despite climate challenges.

At the same time, we work with mothers in our PMTCT programs to ensure babies are born HIV-free, and we partner with families in our Kindergartens, schools, and Vocational Training Centre to ensure every child or youth has the support at home to succeed at school.

DAPP Namibia represents the heart and spirit of our nation. As we celebrate this day, we thank every mother, father, and guardian for their commitment to change. Together, we are building a more equal and resilient Namibia for every child.
