𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆. 🐾

Different day.

Same colony.

Same familiar faces waiting for dinner.

And, unfortunately, cat food hasn’t become any cheaper since this photo was taken. 😸

With so many mouths to feed across our colonies, every bag really does help us keep the routine going.

Agenda:

Who arrived?

What’s in the bowls?

Why are the humans taking photos again?

And, most importantly…

how long until dinner? 😸

Judging by these faces, the committee is taking its responsibilities very seriously.

𝗣𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗲𝘄! 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻. 🖤🐾

Yesterday was 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗖𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆.

Naturally, I assumed the spotlight would be mine.

Then Adolfo happened.

One dramatic pose later, and somehow the tuxedo had stolen the whole show. 😼

So here I am, one day late, reclaiming what was rightfully mine.

Elegant.

Mysterious.

Completely black.

And, unlike some cats I could mention, actually on theme.

Some face the new week with enthusiasm.

Some with determination.

And some…

…have their own very special way of expressing how they feel about it. 😸

𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆. 🐾

The week was long.

The weather was questionable.

The humans were slow.

But dinner has arrived…

….which, frankly, has improved the mood!

𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲. 🐾

This is the reality for some of our ferals.

Rubble, broken material, sharp edges and very little protection from the elements.

It also means that a small injury can happen very easily — and with feral cats, even something minor can become difficult to treat if the cat has already learned to avoid a trap.

When they are sterilised, our cats are vaccinated as well, which gives them an important layer of protection.

But out here, everyday life still comes with risks.

That is why our volunteers keep watching.

Not just whether the bowls are empty…

but whether someone is limping, holding an eye closed, losing weight, or simply behaving differently than usual.

Sometimes caring starts with noticing. 🩶🐾

𝗢𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻, 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝘆. 🐾

This grey resident at one of our bush colonies has an injured eye and is currently being watched closely by our volunteers.

The difficult part?

Most of our cats have already been trapped once for sterilisation — and they remember.

Getting them into a trap a second time can be a very different story.

So for now, we keep watching, keep feeding, keep gaining trust… and wait for the right opportunity to get this one the help it may need.

Life with feral cats often requires a little patience.

Sometimes, quite a lot of it. 🩶🐾

𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨. 🐾

Before we head back into life at the colonies, we have something important to say.

A huge thank you to 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝘀 for the incredibly generous donation of 𝟭𝟰 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱.

With so many mouths to feed, donations like this make a very real difference and help us keep bowls filled across our colonies.

From all of us — two-legged and four-legged —

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆. 🐾

They may not have a sofa to curl up on,
or a human to call their own.

But they have each other.

And they have a small group of humans who know their faces, fill their bowls, look out for them and care what happens to them.

Today, on 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 we simply celebrate them.

The familiar faces.
The shy ones.
The cheeky ones.
And all those who have quietly found their way into our hearts. 😻
