Notice is hereby given that the Municipal Offices will be closed on Wednesday, 26 August 2026 to observe Heroes’ Day:

The Municipal Offices will resume normal operations on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

Essential and emergency services will continue to be rendered in accordance with after-hours and weekend arrangements

A semi-purified water overflow in Swakopmund' Mondesa suburb (Waterberg Street, Woerman Mondesa vicinity) occured this morning, leaving motorists and pedestrians forced to take a bypass.

According to the Swakopmund Municipality's public relations officer, Linda Mupupa, the Municipality is on it and the water will be sucked up.

Just a reminder: we will have a power outage CBD, Kramersdorf etc as from 12h00 until this evening. Tomorrow will be Vineta, Ocean View etc. Erongo RED is upgrading and automating the switch gear today at Mandume Substation and tomorrow at the Tamariskia one. With the completion of the Sekelduin substation, Swakopmund electrical infrastructure is now being upgraded from 30 to 60MW! One can see the new pylons of the incoming powerlines already there.

WATER INTERRUPTION – SWAKOPMUND TOWN, 30 AUGUST 2026

Dear Residents,

The Swakopmund Municipality hereby informs residents and businesses that Water Works will be carrying out maintenance on the main water supply pipeline from the reservoirs.
As a result, the entire Swakopmund town will experience water interruption on Sunday, 30 August 2026 from 00:00 on 29 August 2026 to 23:00 on 30 August 2026.

All areas of Swakopmund town will be affected, excluding Rossmund and the Small holding Plots.
Residents in areas such as DRC, Matutura and Kramersdorf may still receive a limited quantity of water during the interruption, with very low water pressure.

Residents are therefore advised to store sufficient water in advance for essential household and business needs during the interruption.

Furthermore, on Monday, 31 August 2026 Following the maintenance works, low water pressure may still be experienced across Swakopmund, as the water supply system and reservoirs return to normal operating conditions.

The Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation while this essential maintenance work is being carried out.
