We were honoured to co-host the 2026 ASM–SOA Joint Seminar with the Society of Actuaries (SOA) in Kuala Lumpur, bringing together actuarial and insurance leaders from across the region to exchange perspectives on a changing landscape and the role of actuaries in leading with relevance, responsibility, and purpose.

Artificial intelligence and advanced analytics were central themes, reflecting their growing strategic importance to actuarial practice and enterprise decision-making. Climate risk, health insurance, and sustainable retirement were also important themes, highlighting the profession’s evolving responsibilities.

We were also privileged to hear from Datuk Jessica Chew, Technical Advisor to Bank Negara Malaysia, who shared valuable perspectives on the RESET initiatives for the base MHIT plan.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Prepare Valuation, FCR, Stress Test, and other regulatory / group reporting relatively autonomously with some guidance from Appointed Actuary.
- Liaise with other departments, senior management and regional oAice - able to have a deeper understanding of the requirements and meet the underlying needs.
- Provide support and technical advice to the wider Actuarial team.

Job Specification:
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, or related field.
- Good progress in actuarial exams or is newly qualified from a recognized actuarial society.
- Minimum 8 - 10 years of experience in the general insurance industry related to job responsibilities.
- Able to understand the context of issues, take initiative to be well-informed to make decisions, and have good problem-solving skills.

Call for Proposals: 2026 ASM-SOA Joint Seminar

The Society of Actuaries (SOA), in partnership with the Actuarial Society of Malaysia (ASM), invites you to submit a session proposal for the 2026 ASM–SOA Joint Seminar, taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in early May 2026.

This two-day seminar will bring together actuaries, insurance, finance, and investment professionals from Malaysia, across Asia-Pacific, and around the world.

We are seeking session proposals that offer relevant and engaging content from seasoned speakers who are interested in sharing their expertise. Speakers are welcome to utilize formats that best convey their content or spark engaging conversation among attendees, including case studies, sharing of leading practices and tools for audience participation.

• To assist the Manager and the HOD in managing reinsurance strategy, negotiation, and administra tion, including treaty management, statement of accounts and financial reporting processes.
• To deliver accurate pricing of products in accordance to best actuarial practice that meet internal, Alli anz Regional and regulatory (BNM) standards/ requirement.
• To assist in preparing regulatory and regional office product and product documentation filings in high quality and timely manner.
