𝗜𝗙𝗦𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗠

On 7 September 2026, the International Federation of Sport and Aquatic Tourism Industrialists (IFSAT) was honoured to support the Sayangi Malaysia “Sustainable Tourism Ambassador” Certification Training Programme held at the FRIM Auditorium.

IFSAT President, Ms Jenny Lee, and Secretary-General, Pn Hjh Mastura Hj Abd Manap, participated as trainers, supporting the practical sessions and guiding participants in applying sustainable tourism principles within their roles and daily engagement with visitors.

Organised by FRIM’s Social Forestry Programme in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), the programme brought together 75 FRIM nature guides and staff members.

Participants were introduced to the Sayangi Malaysia Sustainable Tourism C.H.E.C.K. Framework, which encompasses five important pillars:

Culture • Heritage • Environment • Community • Knowledge

Through group discussions and practical presentations, participants applied the framework to real-world tourism scenarios, strengthening their ability to promote responsible, meaningful and sustainable visitor experiences.

IFSAT is proud to contribute its expertise alongside trainers and champions from Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN), HELP University and the Malaysian Association of Hotels Training and Education Centre (MAHTEC).

We remain committed to advancing sustainable practices, professional competency and responsible leadership across Malaysia’s adventure, sport and aquatic tourism sectors.

The International Federation of Sport & Aquatic Tourism Industrialists (IFSAT) recently conducted a leadership visit and strategic discussion with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to explore collaborative efforts in advancing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policy framework for the sustainable development of the aquatic tourism industry.

The discussion focused on the importance of establishing industry-driven standards, governance, and best practices that promote safety, sustainability, environmental stewardship, professional competency, and responsible tourism across the aquatic tourism ecosystem.

As the aquatic tourism sector continues to evolve, robust SOPs and well-developed policies are essential to strengthen industry resilience, enhance visitor confidence, support workforce development, and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
