IFSAT was honoured to receive an invitation from the Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN) to participate in the final Tourism SDG Trainer Certification Course under the Sayangi Malaysia Sustainable Tourism (SMST) Certification Programme held on 11 & 12 May 2026.

Representing IFSAT, both the President and Secretary-General attended the Training of Trainers programme, which brought together 34 trainers from government agencies, academia and industry leaders to strengthen sustainable tourism practices across Malaysia.

Participants were guided through structured modules designed to enhance knowledge transfer, improve training efficiency and develop impactful training plans for wider industry implementation.

Organised by Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN) in collaboration with UNDP Malaysia, this initiative reflects a strong commitment towards empowering Tourism SDG Trainers, Youth Ambassadors and Industry Ambassadors who will continue driving sustainability, productivity and responsible tourism practices throughout the tourism ecosystem.

IFSAT remains committed to supporting sustainable tourism development, industry collaboration and capacity building initiatives that align with global sustainability goals and the future growth of sports and aquatic tourism industries.

On 14 April 2026, the Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN) successfully convened its first Monitoring Meeting and Engagement Session for the year, bringing together 70 representatives from the tourism industry and relevant government agencies. As part of the working committee, IFSAT was honoured to participate in this important platform, which focused on aligning programme planning and setting the strategic direction for 2026.

The session highlighted the continued commitment to strengthening collaboration between industry players and government stakeholders, aimed at enhancing productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability within Malaysia’s tourism sector. Key industry insights were shared, including available grants by NCIA and UNDP, ongoing initiatives by UOA Group and Evenesis, as well as perspectives on future developments such as the proposed Cameron Highlands tourism railway feasibility study.

Chaired by En. Rohizam Md Yusoff (TPN Champion), alongside Dr. Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah (Deputy Director General, MPC) and Dr. Norwan bin Ahmad (Division Secretary, MOTAC), the session reflected a strong and ongoing commitment by MPC and MOTAC through TPN to ensure that all planned interventions are implemented in a structured, relevant, and high-impact manner for the advancement of the national tourism industry.

IFSAT was honoured to attend the Sustainable Tourism Trainers Briefing, which brought together more than 70 participants from government agencies, tourism associations, hotels, NGOs, and industry leaders demonstrating a strong shared commitment towards advancing sustainable tourism in Malaysia.

As one of the associations represented in the TPN Tourism SDG Working Group, IFSAT is proud to contribute to this collaborative effort in aligning industry practices with national sustainability priorities.

The session served as an important platform to align the programme’s direction, objectives, and implementation approach, supporting TPN’s aspiration to enhance tourism productivity through capacity building and knowledge sharing.
