Hook, Line, and Warriors

We had a fun day today at Hook, Line, and Warriors. We fished on the beach today with a group of veterans and a few of their children and spouses.
We set up at 6am and fished until 10am. It was an absolutely gorgeous day. The fish unfortunately had other commitments today and weren't around to play. We did manage to hook and land a beast of a ray. We lost another in the wash trying to pull it in. And had a third spit the hook. A skate rounded out the days activity.
If nothing else, the beach is always magical and provides a calm solace that is hard to find elsewhere. The sound of the waves, watching terns and ospreys working the water, and dolphins cruising along. It doesn't get much better.
We got to teach quite a few of our guests how to cast and rig up their rods. Everyone was actively fishing. Everyone was happy to be there enjoying the day. It doesn't get much better.
Thank you to everyone who came out to participate today. A special thanks to Scott and John for all of their tireless help with everything. Looking forward to our next trip!

The next Hook, Line, and Warriors trips for June will be the following:

Saturday June 13th, Surf fishing at Poverty Beach. 6am to 10am. Limited to 12 anglers. Family welcomed.

Friday June 26th, 4 hour fluke fishing aboard the Starfish Boats. Boat leaves at 1pm and returns at 5pm.

Today I saw a man selling poppies stop a lady and asked if he could re-position her poppy. While doing so he told that lady she should wear the poppy on their right side; the red represents the blood of all those who gave their lives, the black represents the mourning of those who didn't have their loved ones return home, and the green leaf represents the grass and crops growing and future prosperity after the war destroyed so much. The leaf should be positioned at 11 o'clock to represent the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the time that World War One formally ended. He was worried that younger generations wouldn't understand this and his generation wouldn't be around for much longer to teach them. (copy and paste to share just like I did) 🌹 we must remember those from our current wars too!

What a great day out on the water! Hook, Line, and Warriors ran out for sea bass aboard the Starfish Boats for eight hours of fishing fun. We had 28 daring souls on-board ready and willing to fish. And the weather prognosticators finally got the forecast correct!
We headed out on calm seas and anchored over a variety of structure to pursue our quarry. Each stop provided action for our anglers. We picked through the many shorts to haul in plenty of keepers for table fare. Besides tasty sea bass we pulled up quite a few tasty ling. Flounder, doggies, bergal, tog, and sea Robin's rounded out the catches for the day.
Mandy's Subs provided delicious hoagies for the days adventure. Capt. Mike and 1st Mate Anthony kept everyone on the fish and in ship shape. As usual, we slacked off on the photos. We even failed to get a group shot. Definitely need to do better moving forward. Despite the poor photographic diligence, everyone had a great time, landed fish, and enjoyed quality time with other veterans. Looking forward to upcoming surf and Starfish trips. Thank you all for coming out today! It was a blast! Tight Lines!
