🤝COURTESY CALL IN CONJUNCTION WITH JOINT OFFICIAL MISSION BY UNDP MALAYSIA AND EMBASSY OF SWITZERLAND IN MALAYSIA TO THE SABAH FORESTRY DEPARTMENT 🇨🇭🇲🇾🌿

7th May 2026, Sandakan : The Embassy of Switzerland in Malaysia and UNDP Malaysia paid a courtesy call to the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD) for a formal introductory engagement. The meeting was chaired by Datuk Zulkifli Suara, as the Chief Conservator of Forests, Tuan Indra Purwandita H. Sunjoto, the Deputy Chief of Conservator of Forests (Planning & Management) as the MY-FOLUR National Project Director (NPD) and Madam Rosila Anthony, Head of Forest Sector Planning Division as MY-FOLUR Project Manager (PM) attended the meeting. The Ambassador of Switzerland in Malaysia, Ms. Chantal Moser, was accompanied by Mr. Edward Vrkić, the Resident Representative (RR) of UNDP Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam; as well as Ms. Melissa Payne, Programme Manager and Ms Imelda Geoffrey, Project Associate.

The meeting provided a valuable platform to re-synergise and realign on the current initiatives and continued partnerships through the Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration Malaysia (MY-FOLUR) Impact Programme.

🌳SAMBUTAN HARI HUTAN ANTARABANGSA PERINGKAT KEBANGSAAN🌿

22hb Mei 2026, Sook : Sambutan Hari Hutan Antarabangsa (HHA) Peringkat Kebangsaan, anjuran Jabatan Perhutanan Sabah, telah berlangsung dari 22hb Mei sehingga 24 Mei 2026 di Dataran Sook. Seramai 18 organisasi terdiri daripada pelbagai latar belakang mengadakan pameran semasa Sambutan HHA berlangung.

Sambutan HHA tersebut telah dirasmikan oleh Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji bin Haji Noor, Ketua Menteri Sabah.

Majlis turut dihadiri oleh Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Johari bin Abdul, Yang di-Pertua Dewan Rakyat, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup, Menteri Sumber Asli dan Kelestarian Alam, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Binti Ahmad, Menteri Perladangan dan Komoditi Malaysia bersama barisan Jemaah Menteri Kabinet Negeri, ketua-ketua jabatan, komuniti setempat serta para penggiat industri.

Sepanjang acara Sambutan HHA berlangsung, Projek MY-FOLUR berpeluang untuk berinteraksi dengan pelbagai pihak berkepentingan, termasuk sektor swasta dan komuniti-komuniti tempatan secara bermakna.

🤝 KUNJUNGAN HORMAT KE UPPM N.40 BINGKOR 💼

11hb Mei 2026, Keningau : Satu sesi taklimat berkaitan projek Food System, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) telah diadakan di Bilik Mesyuarat UPPM N.40 Bingkor bersama Pegawai Community/District Mobilizer Keningau, En Jasrul Dulipat.Turut hadir dalam sesi tersebut ialah PPM N.40 Bingkor Tuan Lectus Fung, CDO En Janerowey J. Bundoi serta kakitangan UPPM N.40 Bingkor.

Taklimat ini bertujuan memberi penerangan berkenaan pelaksanaan projek MY-FOLUR yang memfokuskan kepada pengurusan sistem makanan, penggunaan tanah secara mampan serta usaha pemulihan dan pemeliharaan alam sekitar.

💼 APE MALAYSIA X SFD - ALIGNING VISIONS, STRENGTHENING ACTION 🤝🌱

20th May 2026, Sandakan : Animal Projects & Environmental Education Sdn. Bhd (APE Malaysia) paid a courtesy visit to the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD), the Implementing Partner for the Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) in Sabah, for an introductory engagement. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Gerald Jetony, the Chief Technical Advisor of MY-FOLUR Project, whereas APE Malaysia was represented by Mr. Mazrul Bin Mahadzir, Project Director, and Mr. Mark Louis Benedict, Project Manager.

Mr. Mark gave a briefing on the background of APE Malaysia and their current initiatives within the Kinabatangan landscape, while Dr. Gerald provided a brief overview of the MY-FOLUR Project. The meeting's discussion brought valuable insights and opportunities to explore potential collaborations in the implementation of the MY-FOLUR Project.

APE and SFD will continue discussions to align their goals and landscape approaches, strengthening collaboration that could contribute to MY-FOLUR project goals.

📢👥 SESI PENGENALAN PROJEK MY-FOLUR PERINGKAT DAERAH KECIL SUKAU🌿

5hb Mei 2026, Kinabatangan: Projek MY-FOLUR dengan sokongan padu daripada Pejabat Perhutanan Daerah Kinabatangan dan Pejabat Daerah Kinabatangan telah berjaya menganjurkan program Sesi Pengenalan Projek FOLUR bertempat di Dewan Seri Milian, Kinabatangan.

Program penting ini telah dihadiri oleh Tuan Suhaime @ Suhaimi bin Hj. Ejip, Pegawai Daerah Kinabatangan yang turut menyampaikan rumusan mendalam serta ucapan penutupan program. Sesi ini juga amat bermakna dengan kehadiran para tetamu jemputan dan wakil agensi: Tuan Jamaian Haji Alias (Pegawai Perhutanan Daerah), Tuan Mohd Syah Marzuki bin Agar (Pegawai Pertanian Kanan), Encik Samry @ Sami bin Sher Mohamad (Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat N.59 Sukau), Wakil Pejabat Daerah Kecil Sukau, Wakil Pejabat Hidupan Liar Kinabatangan, Wakil Pejabat Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan (PPK) Kinabatangan, dan Wakil Pejabat MPOB Kinabatangan.

Seramai 57 orang peserta telah meluangkan masa hadir, termasuk barisan kepimpinan kampung (Ketua Kampung dan JKKK) dari seluruh kawasan Daerah Kecil Sukau.

📝 Pengisian Program: Agenda utama merangkumi 3 sesi taklimat informatif serta sesi soal jawab yang interaktif:-
1. Taklimat 1: Pengenalan Projek FOLUR disampaikan oleh Dr. Gerald Jetony (Penasihat Kanan Teknikal).
2. Taklimat 2: Disampaikan oleh Encik Frederic Ansis (Community District Mobiliser-Kinabatangan).
3. Taklimat 3: Mengenai kepentingan RAMSAR yang dikongsikan oleh Tuan Markus Salutan (Penolong Pegawai Perhutanan Daerah).

Di penghujung program, Tuan Suhaime bin Hj. Ejip dalam ucapan penutupnya menegaskan betapa pentingnya mewujudkan keseimbangan antara usaha pemuliharaan alam sekitar dengan usaha mengejar manfaat ekonomi. Beliau turut menyeru komuniti agar berani meneroka peluang bagi aktiviti-aktiviti konservasi, termasuk di luar kawasan normatif mereka.

Setinggi-tinggi penghargaan diucapkan kepada semua agensi, pemimpin masyarakat, dan para peserta atas komitmen dan kerjasama yang diberikan! 🤝🌱

👥 PROGRAM KOMUNIKASI, PENDIDIKAN & KESEDARAN AWAM (CEPA) 📢

30hb April 2026, Sandakan: Pejabat Perhutanan Daerah Tenom yang diketuai oleh Tuan Harry F. Ikok selaku Pegawai Perhutanan Daerah telah menganjurkan satu program kesedaran yang berfokuskan Kawasan Landskap Pengurusan Hutan Secara Lestari Hutan Simpan Gunung Lumaku di Rumah Kebudayaan Kampung Bamban. Program ini dirasmikan oleh Tuan Ismail Alowisius, selaku Timbalan Pegawai Perhutanan Wilayah Keningau mewakili Tuan. Jaime Gampawi. Beberapa agensi kerajaan turut menghadiri program termasuk Pejabat Daerah Tenom, Pejabat Daerah Kecil Kemabong, Jabatan Pertanian Daerah Tenom, dan Jabatan Perikanan Daerah Tenom. Dr. Gerald Jetony, sebagai Penasihat Kanan Teknikal, dijemput untuk memberi pengenalan terhadap Projek MY-FOLUR semasa program CEPA dijalankan.

Seramai 160 orang penduduk dari tiga buah kampung, telah memeriahkan program kesedaran tersebut dengan kehadiran mereka.

💼 MESYUARAT JAWATANKUASA TINDAKAN PEMBANGUNAN DAERAH BELURAN 👥

24 Mac 2026, Beluran : Jabatan Perhutanan Sabah, selaku Rakan Pelaksana (Implementing Partner) Projek MY-FOLUR biayaan GEF/UNDP, telah dijemput hadir ke Mesyuarat Siri Ke-3 Jawantankuasa Tindakan Pembangunan Daerah Beluran (JTPD), yang telah dipengerusikan oleh Tuan Roger Appolonius, Pegawai Daerah Beluran. Mesyuarat turut dihadiri oleh YB Datuk Samad Jambri @ Jamri yang merupakan Pembantu Menteri 1, Kementerian Pembangungan Luar Bandar, dan juga merupakan Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Labuk.

Pegawai Daerah memberi ruang kepada pegawai-pegawai Projek MY-FOLUR untuk memberi pembentangan Projek Pengurusan Landskap Bersepadu untuk Sistem Makanan Lestari, Gunta Tanah dan Restorasi atau singkatannya Projeck MY-FOLUR di Sabah. Pembentangan ini bertujuan sebagai pengenalan dan pemakluman terhadap perlaksanaan Projek MY-FOLUR secara amnya dan di Daerah Beluran scara khususnya kepada Ahli-ahli Jawatankuasa dan telah dibentangkan oleh Dr. Gerald Jetony, selaku Ketua Penasihat Teknikal (Chief Technical Advisor, CTA) Projek. Mesyuarat turut disertai oleh En. Fadzil D. Moksin JR Penolong Pegawai Perhutanan Daerah Pitas, En. Moses Matuin, Pegawai Pengurusan Sumber Hutan (SFM) Timimbang-Botitian, Pn. Daphne Rachel Marius Gapang, Pegawai Penghasilan Mampan (SPO) dan En. Mitchell Maluda, Pemaju Komuniti/Daerah Beluran-Paitan.

💼 EARTHWORM FOUNDATION (EF) X SFD - OPENING THE CONVERSATION : AN INTRODUCTORY ENGAGEMENT 🤝

12th March 2026, Sandakan : A courtesy call by the Earthworm Foundation (EF) to the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD) for an introductory engagement as both Parties came together to synergise activities within the Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration Malaysia (MY-FOLUR) Impact Programme. The meeting was chaired by Tuan Indra Purwandita Herry Sunjoto, the Deputy Chief of Conservator (Planning & Management) as the National Project Director of the MY-FOLUR; whereas EF was represented by Mr. Kenny Kagiah, the Sabah Landscape Manager, and five other Team members.

Dr. Gerald Jetony, the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA), presented a brief overview of the MY-FOLUR Project in Sabah. Meanwhile, Mr. Kenny gave a briefing on the background of the Earthworm Foundation and their ongoing activities within their Telupid – Tongod – Beluran – Paitan – Kinabatangan – Landscapes. Indeed, the meeting provided valuable opportunities to learn about each other's projects, share insights on past and ongoing initiatives, and explore potential collaborations in the implementation of the MY-FOLUR Project in Sabah.

Building on the positive momentum from the meeting, EF and SFD will further discuss on aligning their goals and landscape approaches to strengthen collaboration that could contribute to the overall objectives of MY-FOLUR Project.

💼 IDH X SFD - SYNERGISING INITIATIVES FOR EFFECTIVE COLLABORATION 🤝

6th March 2026, Sandakan : The Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) paid a courtesy visit to the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD), the Implementing Partner (IP) for the Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration Malaysia (MY-FOLUR) Project in Sandakan. The main purpose of the visit was to discuss on IDH's activities as one of the co-financiers for the MY-FOLUR Project.

The meeting was chaired by Madam Rosila Anthony, the Head of Forest Sector Planning Division, who is also the Project Manager for the MY-FOLUR Project. IDH was represented by Ms. Allie Subramanian, the Senior Programme Manager and Country Head for Malaysia, Ms. Vinita Ganesh, the Programme Manager (Palm - Peninsula Malaysia) and Ms. Marcie Elene Marcus Jopony, the Programme Manager (Palm - Sabah). The UNDP Programme Manager, Ms. Melissa Junaidi Payne joined the meeting virtually.

An update to IDH, a short briefing on the overview of the MY-FOLUR Project was presented by Dr. Gerald Jetony, the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA); meanwhile Ms. Allie presented an introduction of IDH and its landscape approach and shared the IDH's ongoing landscape initiatives in Sabah. Both presentations preceded the joint discussion to explore potential on the synergies and collaboration between IDH and the MY-FOLUR Project in supporting sustainable land use and forest conservation in Sabah.

IDH and SFD continue to build the momentum presented by the meeting to further align their respective goals and landscape approaches for effective collaboration on the MY-FOLUR Project.
