KUALA LUMPUR, 19 May 2026 โ Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, President of the Association of Credit Management Malaysia (ACMM) , attended the Industry Engagement Session (Sesi Libat Urus Industri) organised by the Consumer Credit Commission (Suruhanjaya Kredit Pengguna โ SKP) on 19 May 2026 in conjunction with the implementation of the Consumer Credit Act 2025 (CCA 2025).
The engagement session was part of SKPโs ongoing initiative to enhance industry preparedness ahead of the operational authorisation framework involving licensing and registration requirements under the newly enforced Consumer Credit Act 2025. The session gathered industry stakeholders, associations, practitioners, and businesses involved in the consumer credit ecosystem to better understand the regulatory requirements and implementation framework under the new legislation.
Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel welcomed the Governmentโs initiative in strengthening governance, accountability, transparency, and consumer protection within the credit industry. However, he also emphasised that the implementation of the Act should not result in excessive regulatory burdens on industry players, particularly Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
