🌫️ Haze Alert | Let’s Give Our Children an Extra Layer of Protection 💛

The recent haze in Malaysia has raised concerns over air quality and the health of our children. Students travel to and from school daily and may be exposed to polluted air for extended periods. For families facing financial difficulties, providing suitable protective face masks throughout the haze period may also become an additional financial burden.

In response, Yayasan Nanyang Press has launched the Face Mask Sponsorship Programme for Needy Students, providing suitable protective face masks to students in need.

🏫 School Application
Government schools in areas recently affected by haze may apply on behalf of students from financially disadvantaged families who require face mask assistance.

Schools are required to submit:
✅ An official appeal letter on the school letterhead, signed by the authorised school representative
✅ A completed beneficiary student list with the relevant family information

马来西亚近期多个地区受到烟霾影响，空气素质令人关注。儿童及青少年每天往返学校，并可能长时间接触受污染的空气；对于经济困难家庭而言，为孩子持续准备合适的防护口罩，也可能成为额外负担。

有鉴于此，南洋报业基金启动“清寒学生口罩援助计划”，为有需要的学生提供适合烟霾期间使用的防护口罩。

55岁的石家威长期面对精神健康问题，难以维持稳定工作，至今已失业超过两年半。他独自租住在Taman Maluri一间月租RM300的小房间。每月获得的RM300政府现金援助刚好用于缴付房租，膳食及其他日常开销仍须设法应付。

Cheok Kah Wee, 55, has struggled to maintain stable employment while living with a long-term mental health condition. He has been unemployed for more than two and a half years and now lives alone in a small room in Taman Maluri, where the monthly rent is RM300. His RM300 monthly government OKU assistance covers the rent, leaving him to find other ways to meet the cost of food and daily necessities.

55岁的石家威患有双相情感障碍。长期精神健康问题影响其专注力、情绪管理及持续就业能力，至今已失业超过两年半。

目前，他独自租住在Taman Maluri一间月租RM300的小房间。该单位由店屋楼层分隔而成，住户共用厕所及洗澡设施；住处没有厨房、冰箱和洗衣机，床褥直接铺在地面，日常起居、睡眠及收纳都集中在这片狭小空间里。

石家威每月仅获得政府福利部RM300援助金，刚好只够缴付房租。房租以外，他仍须设法应付膳食、电话费及其他基本生活开销。

为了减轻食物负担，他平日会前往慈善机构领取熟食、面包或饼干，星期日则到教会享用礼拜前提供的早餐。没有获得食物时，他只能购买较便宜的简单餐点；经济拮据时，有时甚至只能以一杯饮料充饥，或提早入睡等待翌日。

南洋报业基金现为石家威筹募生活费，盼望社会大众伸出援手，用于协助他应付基本膳食及日常生活所需。

【A Helping Hand for Cheok Kah Wee】

Cheok Kah Wee, 55, has been living with bipolar affective disorder. His long-term mental health condition has affected his concentration, emotional regulation and ability to maintain stable employment. He has now been unemployed for more than two and a half years.

He currently lives alone in a small partitioned room in Taman Maluri, with a monthly rent of RM300. The unit has shared bathroom facilities and no kitchen, refrigerator or washing machine.

His monthly RM300 assistance from the Welfare Department is only enough to cover the rent, leaving him struggling to meet the cost of food and other basic daily necessities.

Yayasan Nanyang Press is now raising funds to help ease his living burden， his basic food and daily living needs.

吴天生长期受多种疾病困扰，目前更需继续接受 Ustekinumab（Stelara）生物制剂治疗，以控制狭窄型克罗恩病的病情。

接下来3支治疗药物费用共RM26,775，在扣除RM10,000药物补贴后，仍需筹募RM16,775医药费。

妻子离世后，吴天生独居多年。平日看医生、买菜、煮饭都只能靠自己；身体不适时，也只能独自在家休息。如今面对这笔高昂的治疗费用，已经没有工作收入的他，实在无力独自承担。
