This year, we invested RM5,726.92 in TNVR efforts. It might not be much compared to the incredible work done by many other rescuers, but we believe that every effort, no matter the size, holds immense value. Each spay or neuter represents fewer unwanted litters, better lives for strays, and a step closer to a humane community. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our incredible rescue partners, dedicated vets, and kind-hearted friends of strays. Together, we’re showing that even small efforts can create lasting change—one stray at a time. 🐾❤️

Welcomed a new member in your family? 🐶

Don’t forget to bring your furry friend for their vaccinations and spay/ neuter them. 💉 🏥

Vaccinating your dog protects them from serious diseases, while spaying/ neutering helps reduce pet overpopulation and prevents certain health issues. Do your part to ensure a long and healthy life for your dog! 🐾

P.s. Remind your neighbours too! Especially if they let their dogs roam around the neighbourhood for toilet breaks!

Doja’s puppies are ready for their forever homes! DM us if you are looking to complete your home (and life) with a pet dog! 🏡🐶

What will be covered when you adopt them?
1. Core vaccines 💉
2. Rabies vaccine 💉
3. Spay/ Neuter ✂️

As we are not a shelter and we do not have a permanent space for these puppies, we hope they can be adopted soon. With your help, we can then focus on our efforts in spaying/ neutering and vaccinating more strays in our community to prevent unwanted puppies and a healthier community for all of us to live in. 🫶🏼🐾

Hi friends! It has been about 7 months since we started Happy Strays Kuching - Our mission is simple yet powerful: to neuter/ spay and vaccinate cats and dogs who belong to no one in specific, offering them a chance of healthier and happier lives within our community. By implementing these essential measures, we aim to prevent the cycle of unwanted puppies and kittens.

✨ Our initiative starts with YOU ✨

Our TNVR initiative is most effective with dogs/cats that are regularly fed by the community for several reasons:

1. Familiarity and Trust: These dogs/cats are often friendlier and more accustomed to human interaction because they are consistently fed and treated with respect. This makes them easier to trap humanely, as they are less fearful and more likely to approach humans.

2. Established Territory: Dogs/cats that are fed by the community tend to stay within a specific area, reducing their chances of wandering off in search of food. After being neutered and vaccinated, they can be safely returned to this familiar territory without contributing further to the stray population.

3. Community Support: The community’s involvement in feeding these dogs/cats ensures they have a stable food source, which helps maintain their health and reduces behaviors like scavenging or aggressive territoriality. This ongoing support also allows for easier monitoring of their health and any future needs for vaccinations or medical care.

Trapping dogs/ cats without a consistent food source or community support becomes challenging for us to ensure their well-being after they are returned. We predominantly put our efforts on dogs/cats that can be safely and effectively managed through TNVR, relying on YOUR collaboration to ensure the success of the program. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

🤩THANK YOU🤩

We would like to thank the feeders and collaborators who have played a vital role in our TNVR journey. Your dedication and support have been instrumental in making our efforts successful so far. Together, we are making a positive impact on the lives of these animals and our community. ✨

Remember Doja? She was an unfamiliar dog who appeared in our community a week ago. When she was found, she was listless and unwell…and pregnant. Swipe to see her journey…😳🥶🥺🫣

A million questions went through our minds: Should we terminate her pregnancy or allow more unwanted puppies to be born? Where can we house her at the meantime? Will the people in community accept her if we left her there? How would her protective instincts affect her interactions with people? Can we ensure all the puppies find good homes?

As a privately funded group focusing on Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (TNVR), we’re often stretched thin.
Rescue missions like this are costly and time-consuming, and many local shelters don’t offer the specialized care needed.

Doja delivered 5 puppies in less than 24 hours after we found her. This situation highlights the importance of spaying and neutering the stray dogs in our community to prevent more unwanted puppies.

Doja and her puppies are now receiving individual care from a private foster. Donations to support their care are greatly appreciated and if you know anyone who has the capacity to adopt a puppy, please get in touch with us. 🥹🫶🏼

Continuing the Conversation: Kindness Towards Stray Dogs

Dear

We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to reach out once again to continue our conversation about the presence of stray dogs near your shop.

We understand your concerns about public safety and the well-being of your customers. However, we kindly urge you to consider showing more kindness and compassion towards the stray dogs in the area.

The community has made concerted efforts to ensure the safety of the public, including vaccinating and spaying/neutering the stray dogs. These efforts not only protect public health but also contribute to the overall well-being of the community.

We believe that by working together and showing kindness towards these animals, we can create a safer and more harmonious environment for everyone. We would greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to find a solution that works for everyone involved. We hope you can be gracious enough to let these stray dogs live out their lives and not call the council to remove and cull them.

Thank you for your attention, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,
Happy Strays Kuching
