15 February marks International Childhood Cancer Day — a reminder of the courage shown by children battling cancer every day.

In support of this cause, five Leos and a friend bravely took part in the “Brave the Shave” on 17 July 2025, shaving their heads in solidarity with young cancer fighters. All donations were channelled to the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society. They raised RM5,162, surpassing their RM5,000 target.

This is the third time the St. Joseph’s Private School Leo Club has carried out this meaningful initiative — first raising RM2,100.00 in 2020, followed by RM13,240.18 the next year.

Their continued commitment shows that even a simple act of courage can bring hope and make a lasting difference.

🌟 3 Days 2 Nights Leadership Camp @ Kampung Mujat, Serian! 🌟

From 30 Aug – 1 Sep, the Leos of St. Joseph’s Private School had an amazing adventure at Kampung Mujat, filled with leadership, service, cultural exchange and Merdeka spirit. 🇲🇾✨

👉 Day 1: We arrived at the village and kicked off with the Installation of Club Officers, the first ever held in a village setting 🎉. Afterwards, we learned to make traditional kuih like Kuih Jala, Kuih Telinga & Kuih Rose, bonding through food and fun! 🍪 The night ended with our first leadership session by PP Helena Lim on Impromptu Speaking, inspiring us with new skills. 💡

👉 Day 2: It was National Day, so we started with Zumba 💃, a patriotic walk carrying flags 🇲🇾, and fun games with villagers & children 🎨⚽. In the afternoon, we went tekuyung (river snail) hunting 🐚 and later enjoyed bubur cha-cha prepared by the villagers. The day ended with another inspiring session on The Art of Communication 🗣.

👉 Day 3: Our final morning included a Children’s Reading Action program, eye checks 👀, and a community clean-up to promote environmental awareness 🌍. Saying goodbye to the villagers was emotional – their warmth and hospitality truly touched us. ❤

This camp gave us unforgettable memories, strengthened our bonds, and reminded us of the true meaning of leadership, service, and unity. 💛

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing Faculty Advisors Mr. John Yap, Faculty Advisor Ms. Leona Chrisha & Leo Advisor Past President Helena Lim for their guidance and support throughout this journey. 🙌

On 31st August 2025, during the Kampung Mujat Leadership Camp, Leo Advisor Past President Helena guided Leos through the “Impromptu Speech” session, designed to develop our skills in delivering impactful speeches in limited time. Through practical activities, Leos volunteered to speak based on topics related to the 8 Global Causes and reflective questions about the “Heart of a Leo Club”. The session not only enhanced public speaking and communication skills but also deepened awareness of global issues, encouraged community reflection, and fostered essential leadership qualities among the Leos.

On 1st September 2025, the “Art of Communication” session by Leo Advisor Past President Helena highlighted communication as an essential leadership skill, focusing on clarity, active listening, and the impact of non-verbal communications such as body language, tone, and eye contact. Through interactive activities and practical demonstrations, Leos learned how to overcome barriers, apply effective communication strategies, and build confidence in expressing ourselves. The session not only improved our public speaking abilities but also strengthened our interpersonal skills, helping us grow as more effective and empathetic leaders.
