Charter President Cecil Basuki Adenan formed the club in 1999 with several friends and business partners. The Lions Club of Kuching Allamanda was given its name by the first Mayor of Kuching North, the late Datu Yusoff Hanifah (may he rest in peace). He was the Charter President of the Lions Club of Kuching North (founded 1990).
Cecil Adenan was also a founding member of LC Kuching North, and following the launch of the club, was thereby requested by then-District Governer Hajjah Ellis Suriyati Omar to form a new club.
Nine years later, on the 31st of March, LC Kuching Allamanda was born, named after the official flower of Kuching North City Hall (DBKU).
Ever since then, we have been tirelessly serving the community in Region 1 Zone 1 through a wide variety of activities such as the annual Peace Poster Contest, Lions’ Nursing Home Food Fair, road safety awareness campaigns, blood donation drives, and fundraisers for cataract surgeries - among others.
