A leadership programme to nurture the capabilities of future leaders and social entrepreneurs of Malaysia.

YLA is a project-based leadership development program designed for Malaysians studying in local universities. We believe that leadership is best developed by working collaboratively in teams to achieve a common goal driven by your ambitions. Participants will be supported on their projects by McKinsey & Company consultants as well as distinguished leaders in Malaysia. Leaders who have been involve

d in YLA in the past include Johan Merican, then CEO of TalentCorp; Chen Chow, Co-Founder of Fave; Dzameer Dzulklifi, Founder and MD of Teach for Malaysia and Tengku Dato' Sri Zafrul, CEO of CIMB. We recognize that social problems are notoriously difficult to solve, which is why we believe that getting bright young future leaders of Malaysia to come together and work on the most critical problems facing Malaysia will create a meaningful impact on society. This is why YLA projects have a common theme; social entrepreneurship. Notable projects in the past have ranged from recycling paper and distributing day-old bread to the homeless to increasing awareness and pledges to organ donation. YLA is an initiative driven by McKinsey and Company's Malaysia office.

Meet Anban Raj from the YLA 2022 cohort, who is part of Learnatics and was a recipient of the Diana Award in 2022.
"My team's project in YLA focused on a topic I'm greatly passionate about - Quality Education. The guidance, mentorship, and support provided by the YLA organisers, ambassadors, and industry mentors were simply exceptional. The mentioned enabled us to think critically towards tackling big issues in a practical way. Throughout YLA, the development of both my hard and soft skills was tangible and by the end of the experience, I felt better equipped to be a leader for my community. I’m incredibly grateful to YLA for this life-altering experience which has moulded me into a better person and leader."
