Driving real policy change for the wellness sector!
President Irene Ong and the MAWSPA team held a high-level meeting with YB Tuan Chiew Choon Man, Deputy Minister of MOTAC, to submit our memorandum. We advocated for critical updates to support our operators, including:
• Permit Alignment: Proposing the change of designation from “Juru Urut Kaki” to “Juru Urut” to accurately reflect the comprehensive skills of our therapists.
• Workforce Sustainability: Increasing the age limit for foreign therapists to retain experienced talent.
• Fairer Quotas: Addressing licensing hurdles and the deposit (wang cagaran) imbalances for foreign worker applications.
• Tax Relief: Reviewing the 8% SST and proposing a threshold increase to RM1 million to protect our SMEs.
• ⁠Licensing: Streamlining processes for smoother operations.
