09 / 06 / 2026: 本会代表有幸与本会顾问邓子慷校友、永久名誉顾问林天宾校友，以及1971年亚庇建国中学届校友陈燊贵欢聚早茶，众人在轻松愉悦的氛围中畅谈交流。
Representatives of the Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association were delighted to join the Association’s Advisor, Mr Tien Tze Kwong, Permanent Honorary Advisor, Mr Dennis Lim Tien Pieng, and 1971 Kian Kok Middle School alumnus, Mr Matthew Chin Sin Kui, for a warm and convivial breakfast gathering.

席间，陈燊贵校友分享了亚庇建国中学创校初期的校园生活点滴。在场理事透过前辈的亲身讲述，重温了早年建中学子的求学光景与往事，深切体会到一代代建国人砥砺奋进的精神，以及众人对母校拳拳的赤子情怀。
During the gathering, Mr Chin shared a wealth of cherished memories from his student days during the formative years of Kian Kok Middle School. Through his vivid firsthand recollections, representatives of KKMSAA Board Committee were afforded a rare glimpse into the experiences of Kian Kok students in the school’s earliest days. His reflections served not only to illuminate the challenges and triumphs of a bygone era, but also to highlight the perseverance, dedication, and enduring affection that generations of Kian Kok alumni have held for their beloved alma mater.

陈燊贵校友同时回顾了亚庇建国中学校友会的创立初衷。他谈到，校友会始终以回馈母校为宗旨，更致力于搭建历届校友联络交流的平台，凝聚校友情谊，传承并发扬建中精神。
When invited to reflect on the matter, Mr Chin also shared his perspective on the original vision behind the establishment of Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association. He noted that, while the Association was founded upon the principle of Giving Back To Its Alma Mater, it has also long served as a platform for connecting Kian Kok Alumni across generations, fostering enduring bonds within the Kian Kok Alumni Community, and preserving the spirit, values and traditions of Kian Kok for future generations.

适逢今年本会承办2026年第45届沙巴州华文独立中学三语演讲比赛，陈燊贵校友亦为筹委会提供了大量珍贵史料与参考资料，极大助力赛事特刊的编纂工作。早在1980年，陈燊贵校友便是该项赛事的发起人之一，亦是当年亚庇建国中学校友会首次主办赛事的核心策划人员。
As the Association is set to host the 45th Sabah Statewide Chinese Independent Secondary School Trilingual Elocution Competition in 2026, Mr Chin has generously contributed a wealth of significant historical records and reference materials to support the compilation of the event’s commemorative publication. Notably, he was among the pioneering figures who helped establish the competition in 1980 and was also one of the principal planners when Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association first undertook the honour of hosting the event that same year.

此番分享，不仅让筹委会收获诸多宝贵史料，也深入了解到赛事创办之初的初心与愿景，令本届特刊得以完整呈现这项赛事四十余载的发展历程与精神内核。
His recollections and contributions have provided the Organising Committee not only with a collection of historical references, but also with a deeper appreciation of the vision, aspirations, and enduring purpose that inspired the competition’s founding. Through these valuable insights, this year’s commemorative publication is able to more faithfully chronicle the competition’s remarkable journey across four and a half decades, tracing both its evolution and the enduring values that continue to shape its legacy today.

本会谨向陈燊贵校友致以诚挚谢意，感谢其倾囊相授经验、分享史料。前辈们留下的过往故事与精神风骨，是全体建国人共同的珍贵记忆，亦是后辈前行的精神源泉。本会将始终肩负传承使命，守护这段历史、延续优良传统，让建中精神薪火相传、生生不息。
The Association extends its sincerest appreciation to Mr Chin for sharing his experiences and collected historical archives. The stories, memories and principles preserved by earlier generations form an irreplaceable part of Kian Kok’s collective heritage and continue to inspire those who follow in their footsteps. Indeed, it is through such conversations that one is reminded that institutions are built not merely upon bricks and mortar, but upon the dedication, sacrifices, and aspirations of those who came before. As custodians of this proud legacy, the Association remains steadfast in its commitment to preserve the school’s history, carrying forward its cherished traditions, and ensuring that the spirit of Kian Kok continues to flourish and be passed from one generation to the next for many years to come.

典礼现场，沙巴九所华文独立中学校友会代表齐聚一堂，共同见证新一届理事会宣誓就职。各方围绕校友会运营、校友联谊及未来合作方向深入交流，充分展现了沙巴独中校友会团结互助、同心并进的优良精神。

本会谨向新任主席黄彦清女士，以及保佛中学校友会第26届全体理事，致以最诚挚的祝贺！祝愿新一届理事会会务蒸蒸日上、再创佳绩，持续凝聚校友力量，为保佛中学贡献更多力量。

5月31日：闭幕暨颁奖晚宴于31日晚举行，并恭请沙巴官委州议员YB拿督陈权芳担任主礼嘉宾。YB 拿督陈权芳在致词时表示，能够持续举办四十五年的教育活动实属难得，而三语演讲比赛正是沙巴独中教育精神与校友文化最具体的体现。
The Closing Ceremony, Award Presentation and Dinner Banquet were held on the evening of 31 May, with Sabah Appointed Assemblyman YB Datuk Roger Chin Ken Fong gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour. In his address, YB Datuk Roger Chin commended the organisers and participating schools for their unwavering commitment to sustaining an educational platform that has flourished for forty-five years. He described the Trilingual Elocution Competition as a remarkable testament to the enduring spirit of Sabah’s Chinese Independent Schools and the collective dedication of their alumni associations in nurturing future generations.

他表示，语言不仅是沟通工具，更是连接文化与世界的重要桥梁。通过比赛，学生不仅学习表达，更学习独立思考、逻辑分析及自信沟通，这些能力将成为未来人生道路上的重要资产。
Reflecting on the significance of the competition, he noted that language serves a purpose far beyond communication. It is a powerful bridge that connects people, cultures and opportunities, while enabling young people to engage confidently with an increasingly interconnected world. Through the process of preparing for and participating in such competitions, students develop not only their public speaking abilities, but also critical thinking skills, intellectual curiosity and the confidence to express their ideas effectively.

他勉励所有参赛同学，无论得奖与否，都应珍惜比赛过程中所获得的成长与经验，因为真正的收获往往不在于奖项本身，而是在于学习与突破自我的过程。
YB Datuk Roger Chin also encouraged contestants to view the competition as a journey of growth rather than merely a pursuit of awards. He remarked that the most valuable lessons often come from the experience itself — the courage to step onto the stage, the discipline required in preparation, and the resilience gained through both success and setbacks. At the same time, he has also noted these experiences will continue to benefit the students long after the competition has concluded. He further expressed his hope that the competition would continue to inspire future generations of students to embrace multilingualism, broaden their perspectives and contribute positively to society through thoughtful communication and responsible leadership.

One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was the presentation of the Overall Trilingual Champion Awards, which recognise contestants who demonstrated consistent excellence across the Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia and English categories. The Junior Overall Champion Award was presented by Datuk Aw Kam Wah, JP, while the Senior Overall Champion Award was presented by the Guest of Honour, YB Datuk Roger Chin Ken Fong.

By securing both the Junior and Senior Overall Championship titles, Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School emerged as the most successful school of this year's competition, further underscoring the high calibre of its student representatives on the statewide stage.

📌 亚庇建国中学校友会：让语言成为改变未来的力量 / KIAN KOK MIDDLE SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION: NURTURING FUTURE GENERATIONS THROUGH TRILINGUAL EDUCATION

筹委会大会主席陈俐伶在闭幕致词时表示，亚庇建国中学校友会自1980年创办首届赛事以来，始终与三语演讲比赛有着深厚渊源。
In her closing address, Madam Chin Lee Ling, President of Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association and Patron of the Organising Committee, reflected on the special relationship between Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association and the Sabah Statewide Trilingual Elocution Competition, noting that the association has remained closely connected to the event since it founded the inaugural competition in 1980.

陈主席表示，举办比赛不仅是为了选出冠军，更重要的是让年轻人看见语言的力量。“华语让我们认识自己的文化根源；国语让我们与国家社会紧密连接；英语则让我们看见更广阔的国际舞台。”
She remarked that the significance of the competition extends far beyond the pursuit of trophies and titles. More importantly, it serves as a platform for young people to discover the value of language as a tool for communication, understanding and personal growth. According to President Chin, each language plays a unique role in shaping the identity and future of students. Chinese preserves cultural heritage and strengthens one's connection to their roots, Bahasa Malaysia fosters unity and strengthens bonds within the nation's diverse society, while English provides access to global opportunities and broader perspectives.

陈主席也表示，即使迈入人工智能时代，人与人之间的理解、沟通及信任依然无法被科技取代，因此培养青年掌握三语能力仍然具有重要意义。
She further observed that, despite the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, qualities such as human understanding, crucial communication and mutual trust remain irreplaceable. As such, she emphasised that the cultivation of trilingual proficiency continues to be highly relevant, equipping young people with the skills and confidence needed to navigate an increasingly interconnected world. President Chin also expressed her hope that the competition would continue to inspire future generations to embrace multilingualism, broaden their horizons and become effective communicators capable of contributing positively to society.

📌 山打根育源中学校友会接棒承办第46届赛事 / YU YUAN SECONDARY SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OFFICIALLY RECEIVES THE HOSTING MANDATE FOR 2027

大会尾声举行轮值杯移交仪式。在全场嘉宾、校长、师长、校友及参赛同学见证下，亚庇建国中学校友会正式将象征赛事传承精神的轮值杯移交予2027年第46届沙巴州华文独立中学三语演讲比赛承办单位——山打根育源中学校友会。
The curtain fell on the 45th Sabah Statewide Chinese Independent Secondary School Trilingual Elocution Competition with the traditional Rotational Trophy Handover Ceremony, a symbolic moment that has long represented the continuity and shared stewardship of the event among Sabah's Chinese Independent Secondary School alumni associations. Witnessed by distinguished guests, headmasters, teachers, alumni representatives and student participants, Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association formally handed over the Rotational Trophy to the Yu Yuan Secondary School Alumni Association, which will assume hosting responsibilities for the 46th edition of the competition in 2027.

山打根育源校友会接领轮值杯的代表团成员包括副主席陈耀辉、秘书李健鸿、理事黄嘉慧以及理事张碧蓉。
Receiving the trophy on behalf of Yu Yuan Secondary School Alumni Association, Sandakan, were Board Member Wong Kha Fui, Board Member Chong Bit Yung, General Secretary Lee Jian Hong and Vice President Jason Chan Yew Fei, who led the delegation.

随着轮值杯正式移交，象征承办赛事的责任与使命也正式由亚庇建国中学校友会传承至山打根育源中学校友会。在全场热烈掌声中，双方代表共同完成交接仪式，为本届赛事写下圆满句号，同时也为明年第46届赛事揭开序幕。
The handover ceremony marked more than a change of host. It symbolised the passing of a responsibility that has been shared among Sabah's Chinese Independent Secondary School alumni associations for more than four decades — a commitment to preserving an educational tradition that continues to nurture confident, articulate and multilingual young people. As representatives of both alumni associations gathered on stage to complete the exchange, the hall erupted in warm applause, bringing the 45th edition to a fitting conclusion while ushering in a new chapter for the competition.

轮值杯的顺利交接，不仅延续了沙巴九所华文独立中学校友会轮值承办赛事的优良传统，更展现各校校友会团结合作、共同推动华文教育发展的精神。历经45年的薪火相传，这项州级盛会已成为沙巴独中教育界的重要品牌活动，并将继续为未来的学子提供展现才华、交流学习与成长的平台。
For 45 years, the Rotational Trophy has travelled from one host institution to another, serving as a powerful reminder of the unity, cooperation and collective dedication that underpin the success of this statewide event. More importantly, it reflects the unwavering support of the alumni community in advancing Chinese Independent School education and creating opportunities for students to develop their talents beyond the classroom. As the trophy now makes its journey to Sandakan, anticipation has already begun to build for the 46th Sabah Statewide Chinese Independent Secondary School Trilingual Elocution Competition. With Yu Yuan Secondary School Alumni Association preparing to take on the mantle of host, the enduring legacy of the competition is set to continue, inspiring future generations of students to learn, compete and grow through the power of language.

5月31日：大会举行隆重开幕典礼，并恭请亚庇建国中学永久名誉董事长丹斯里拿督林保障担任主礼嘉宾。丹斯里拿督林保障在致词时指出，亚庇建国中学校友会于1980年创办首届全州三语演讲比赛，经过45年的发展，如今已成为由沙巴九所华文独立中学校友会共同维护及轮值承办的重要州级教育活动。
The Opening Ceremony was held on the morning of 31 May and was officiated by Tan Sri Datuk Lim Pau Chang, Permanent Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kian Kok Middle School. In his address, Tan Sri Datuk Lim reflected on the origins of the competition, noting that the first Sabah Statewide Trilingual Elocution Competition was initiated by Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association in 1980. What began as a platform to encourage students to develop their language and public speaking skills has, over the course of 45 years, grown into one of Sabah’s most respected educational traditions, jointly preserved and hosted by the alumni associations of the state’s nine Chinese Independent Secondary Schools.

丹斯里拿督表示，这项赛事能够持续举办至今，充分体现华社对母语教育的坚持，以及对培养下一代人才的重视。在马来西亚多元社会中，同时掌握华语、国语及英语三种语言，是独中生的重要优势。华语承载文化根脉，国语促进民族融合，而英语则是迈向国际舞台的重要桥梁。此外，丹斯里拿督也勉励所有参赛者以自信迎接挑战，在演讲过程中展现新时代独中生的智慧、思维与担当。
He remarked that the competition’s longevity is a testament to the Chinese community’s unwavering commitment to mother-tongue education and the cultivation of future generations. In Malaysia’s multicultural society, he noted, proficiency in Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia and English equips students with an unique advantage. Mandarin strengthens cultural identity and heritage, Bahasa Malaysia fosters national cohesion and mutual understanding, while English serves as an essential bridge to the global community. Tan Sri Datuk Lim further encouraged all participants to approach the competition with confidence, courage and an open mind, viewing it not merely as a contest but as an opportunity for personal growth. He urged them to demonstrate the wisdom, critical thinking, eloquence and sense of responsibility that characterise the new generation of Chinese Independent School students.

亚庇，5月30日：由沙巴华文独立中学校友会联合会主催，亚庇建国中学校友会承办的“2026年第45届沙巴州华文独立中学三语演讲比赛”，于5月30日至31日在亚庇建国中学圆满举行。来自全州九所华文独立中学的优秀参赛代表齐聚亚庇，以华语、国语及英语三语同场竞技，展现独中生卓越的语言能力、思辨精神与表达风采。
The 45th Sabah Statewide Chinese Independent Secondary School Trilingual Elocution Competition concluded successfully on 30 and 31 May 2026 at Kian Kok Middle School, bringing together some of the brightest young speakers from Sabah's Chinese Independent Secondary Schools for a celebration of language, learning and youthful expression. Organised by the Gabungan Persatuan-Persatuan Alumni Sekolah Cina Persendirian Sabah and hosted by Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association, the two-day event saw student representatives from all nine Chinese Independent Secondary Schools across the state gather in Kota Kinabalu to compete in Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia and English. Throughout the competition, contestants impressed judges and audiences alike with their eloquence, confidence and ability to articulate thoughtful perspectives on a wide range of topics. Beyond showcasing linguistic proficiency, the competition provided a valuable platform for students to demonstrate critical thinking, composure and effective communication skills — qualities that are increasingly important in today's rapidly evolving world.

本届赛事适逢迈入第45届，不仅见证沙巴独中教育的发展历程，也彰显九校校友会数十年来共同守护华教、轮值承办赛事的团结精神。
Now in its 45th year, the competition has grown into one of the most enduring and respected educational traditions among Sabah's Chinese Independent Schools. For generations of students, it has served not only as a stage to test their abilities, but also as a platform to learn from one another, build friendships and gain experiences that extend beyond the classroom. The continued success of the competition also reflects the longstanding commitment of the nine Chinese Independent Secondary Schools and their alumni associations, which have worked hand in hand for more than four decades to uphold the tradition of rotational hosting. Their collective efforts have ensured that the competition remains a crucial avenue for promoting trilingual proficiency, cultivating confident young leaders and preserving the values and spirit of Chinese Independent School education in Sabah.

📌 欢迎晚宴迎接轮值杯抵达建国中学 / WELCOMING BANQUET MARKS THE ARRIVAL OF THE ROTATIONAL TROPHY AT KIAN KOK MIDDLE SCHOOL

大会于 5 月 30 日晚举行欢迎晚宴，获得来自全州各独中校友会代表、校长、教师、评审及参赛同学踊跃出席。大会特别恭请沙巴华文独立中学董事会联合总会主席拿督区锦华局绅担任欢迎晚宴主礼嘉宾，并主持轮值杯迎接仪式，共同见证象征赛事精神与传承使命的轮值杯，由第 44 届承办单位——丹南崇正中学校友会正式移交予第 45 届承办单位亚庇建国中学校友会。
A Welcoming Banquet was held on the evening of 30 May, attended by alumni representatives, headmasters, teachers, judges and student participants of nine Chinese Independent Secondary Schools from across Sabah. The Organising Committee was honoured to welcome Datuk Aw Kam Wah, JP, Chairman of the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia Sabah Chapter, as the Guest of Honour. Datuk Aw officiated the Rotational Trophy Arrival Ceremony, witnessing the official handover of the trophy — symbolising the spirit and legacy of the competition — from the 44th host, Tenom Tshung Tsin Secondary School Alumni Association, to the 45th host, Kian Kok Middle School Alumni Association.

随着轮值杯顺利抵达亚庇建国中学，也正式揭开本届赛事序幕。沙巴华文独立中学董事会联合总会主席拿督区锦华局绅在晚宴致词时表示，三语演讲比赛不仅是一项赛事，更是一项承载华文独中精神与文化传承的重要教育活动。
In his welcoming address, Datuk Aw stated that the Trilingual Elocution Competition is more than just a competition; it is an important educational platform that carries the spirit and cultural heritage of Chinese Independent Schools.

拿督区锦华局绅指出，三语演讲比赛历经45届的发展，早已超越一般竞赛的意义，成为沙巴华文独中重要的教育品牌活动。它不仅为学生提供展现语言才华与锻炼表达能力的平台，也肩负培养思辨能力、提升综合素质及传承华教精神的重要使命。四十五年来，更见证了一代又一代独中生的成长与蜕变。
He noted that after 45 years of development, the competition has evolved into one of Sabah Chinese Independent Schools’ most significant educational brands. It provides students with opportunities to demonstrate their language talents and communication skills while cultivating critical thinking, enhancing personal development and preserving the spirit of Chinese education.

拿督区锦华局绅勉励参赛同学珍惜比赛机会，以开放心态互相观摩、共同成长，在竞争中建立友谊，在交流中拓展视野。
Datuk Aw encouraged all contestants to treasure the opportunity, learn from one another with an open mind, build friendships through healthy competition and broaden their horizons through meaningful exchanges.
