From June - September 2025, Ripple - Sabah Recycling Association carried out the CIRCLE Centre (Community Initiative for Recycling, Circular Learning & Education) project in Luyang and Pulau Gaya.

They launched a 4-day learning programme introducing participants to waste management, Sabah’s pollution issues, climate action, and the SDGs. Through hands-on activities, participants learned practical recycling and upcycling skills, and were empowered to run recycling campaigns and engage their own communities or schools πŸ€

One observation shared was the challenge in reaching the targeted B40 communities in Kota Kinabalu. Participation mainly came from outside this group, and additional outreach to Gaya Island was needed to engage the intended beneficiaries.

Our member, Urban Farmer x Urban Homefarming Sdn Bhd conducted a series of workshops in Keningau on organic farming basics, biofertilizer production, vermicast management, and organic pest control under the "Integrated Organic Farming & Vermicasting" project. The sessions were held on Saturdays: 19 July, 23 August, and 20 September 2025.

Through these activities, the community successfully built their own compost site, produced natural fertilizers, and maintained organic gardens using sustainable methods. Great job, Urban Farmer, for promoting eco-friendly farming practices! 🌿
