What does it truly mean to serve — not only with our hands, but with our hearts? ✨
Caritas volunteers and parish ministry leaders from across the Diocese of Malacca-Johore recently gathered for a day of formation on Integral Human Development (IHD) — a journey that challenged us to see service in a deeper way.
At the heart of the formation was a simple but powerful process:
🔍 See – Open your eyes to the realities around you. Look beyond immediate needs and seek to understand the root causes behind them.
⚖️ Judge – Reflect on what you see in the light of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church. Ask: How would Christ respond in this situation?
🤝 Act – Respond with compassion and wisdom, guided by the Holy Spirit. Listen before acting, and serve according to the needs of others rather than our own assumptions.
One participant shared:
"Ministry is not measured by achievements or visible results, but by faithfulness in the little things and the disposition of the heart."
Another summed it up simply:
"Serve as Jesus served."
This is the spirit of Integral Human Development — the Church walking with people, promoting human dignity, and witnessing Christ's love through concrete acts of service.
May we continue to be instruments of God's compassion, one person, one encounter, and one act of love at a time. 🙏
