In the year 1930 Australia,in the midst of great depression, saw widespread unemployment and its resultant social problems.Against this scenario, three young unemployed architects from Geelong,Victoria got together with the aim of harnessing the resources of young energetic men for the betterment of the community during those hopeless and despondent years.Initial service efforts were most physical in nature. It was only later when there were more clubs and when the economy picked up that the clubs embarked on fund raising ventures to finance several service projects.
