On 15 April 2026, Hanis spotted a cat stranded in the middle of the Penang Bridge during heavy after-work traffic.

She could have kept driving. Instead, she stopped for him.

The next day, Hanis brought Atan to the vet to make sure he was safe and received the care he needed.

Hanis became the person willing to take responsibility for what happened next.

Stories like Atan’s remind us that animal welfare often begins with one decision: to stop, to notice and to help when it would be easier to look away.

Thank you, Hanis, for showing up for Atan—and for proving how much one compassionate person can change the course of a cat’s life.
