Training Life Worth Living with Yale University

Congratulations to Madam Rosemary Tan, Director of The Blue Ribbon Global Sdn. Bhd., on successfully completing the Life Worth Living (LWL) Retreat at Yale University last week.

Building on this milestone, Madam Rosemary Tan and Dr Norani Abu Bakar, Founder & Director of The Blue Ribbon Global Sdn. Bhd., are working towards co-organising the Life Worth Living training for high learning institutions in Malaysia together with TBR's local partners, Dr Thian Lok Boon (Impact Catalysts) and LWL Malaysia Fellows Dr Thirunaukarasu Subramaniam (Universiti Malaya) and Professor Zainal Sanusi (International Islamic University Malaysia).

With support from the Yale Life Worth Living team, the inaugural training in Malaysia is currently planned for the first quarter of 2027.

We are deeply grateful to our local partners and the Yale LWL programme for entrusting us with this opportunity to bring the Life Worth Living approach to Malaysia and to create a meaningful learning space for people to reflect on what makes life worth living and how we can contribute to the flourishing of individuals and communities.

More to come in 2027.

🌿 One Month On - Looking Back at Permaculture TT-AVP

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a month since we gathered for Permaculture TT-AVP from 2 - 9 September 2026.

So much happened across those seven days - learning, teaching, getting our hands in the soil, sharing meals, singing, laughing, connecting and simply being together.

Today, we’re sharing a few more highlights from the training - moments that capture the spirit of the week. Thank you for making TT-AVP what it was 😊

And with that, we’ll leave this little chapter here - while the learning and connections continue beyond it.

With love from the Blue Ribbon Global team

🌿 A Warm Welcome to Mr Emran & Mr Asmadi! 🌱

It was a privilege to welcome two dedicated staff from the Department of Landscape Architecture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to Garden Spring Cheras!

Both Mr Emran and Mr Asmadi completed their Permaculture Design Course (PDC) more than a decade ago and have continued to carry permaculture into their teaching and practice. For the last five years, together, they championed introducing and running permaculture course at UPM. Congratulations. 🌱

Their recce visit opened an exciting conversation on academic collaboration and experiential learning, with Garden Spring Cheras as a living classroom where students can learn through observation, hands-on practice and connection with nature.

The TBR team warmly welcomes the possibility of working together! 🤝🌿

We look forward to advancing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through permaculture education and training — empowering young people to learn, practise and create positive change for both people and nature. 💚

🚀 Bridging the Digital Divide in Remote Communities! 💻📚

The Blue Ribbon is honored to have presented the Cyberdeck—an innovative, off-grid digital learning solution built by our partner The Patatas, Singapore to key national and state leaders! 🇲🇾✨

We had the privilege of showcasing this divice to:
👤 Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek (Minister of Education) on September 13th
👤 Dato' Sri Diraja Haji Wan Rosdy bin Wan Ismail (Menteri Besar of Pahang) on August 7th

Why the Cyberdeck matters:
In many remote areas, electricity and internet access remain scarce. The Cyberdeck bridges this gap by providing students in rural communities with a holistic, safe, and reliable digital learning environment—even completely offline. 💡🌏

We extend our deepest appreciation to the Ministry of Education, the Pahang State Government and Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Tengku Ampuan Afzan for their encouraging support as we work together to ensure no child is left behind in the digital age! ❤️

The People Behind Permaculture TT-AVP

It’s been a little while since our TT-AVP week, but we’re still feeling so grateful for all the people who helped make it possible!

From our wonderful trainers who shared their knowledge and experience, to our small but mighty organising team working behind the scenes. We regret that TBR's permaculture mentor and PTT AVP curriculum developer, Rosemary Morrow could not join us this time round. Nevertheless, our bottomless gratitude goes to her for initiating this training.

Behind the training scene, every meal prepared, space set up, message answered and little detail taken care of played a part.

Permaculture TT-AVP was truly held by many hands, and we’re grateful for every one of them.

Thank you for being part of the journey with us!

🌿 Nourishing Permaculture TT-AVP

So much went into nourishing our TT-AVP community throughout the week. 🤍

A special thank you to our local catering partners, Zai Catering and Lakshmi Vegan Kitchen, for our delicious daily lunches, and Blaq Coffee (https://Blaqcoffee.com) for supporting us with coffee ☕️

Our own Blue Ribbon food team were up from 6am each day preparing breakfast, refreshments, drinks and all the little extras — thank you! 🥹

And then there were the beautiful contributions from within our own community - Pearl’s Organic Tea from our host team, kombucha generously shared by Thirtha Quddus, and participants bringing cempedak, gac fruit, bananas, tempeh, farm produce, kacang perah, bread, Chinese tea, and so much more 🌱

Take a look through the photos and see all the love that went into nourishing TT-AVP!

Thank you to everyone who cooked, brought, shared and contributed 🙏🏻
