What if the problem isn’t that people don’t care, but that the story was never told right?

At 𝙀𝙘𝙤-𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥 𝟴: 𝙀𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜, 50 schools across Terengganu came together to learn one powerful thing: how to turn their actions into stories that move people. The Eco-Warriors learned:
🌍 “𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹” — how simple school projects are actually connected to larger global issues
🎤 “𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀” — the same issue can create different impact depending on how the story is told
🎬 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 — how to structure their stories clearly from hook to call-to-action
🧩 “𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗮” — mapping their ideas into stories that connect problems, actions and impact

🌿 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗧 𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗨 🌿

Doing great sustainability work is only half the journey. Telling the story is what helps it travel further.

From 9–12 March, 50 Eco-Schools from Terengganu gathered for the 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝟳: 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 with Ms Syafinaz. The Eco-Warriors learned how to transform their environmental projects into stories that reach a wider audience.

Throughout the workshop, they stepped into the role of young storytellers for sustainability through activities such as:
🌱 Understanding different social media platforms and how captions should be tailored for each one
🌱 Creating their own social media content using their Eco-Schools projects complete with original captions
🌱 Learning how to write engaging articles, including crafting strong hooks and structuring their stories effectively
🌱 Drafting their own essay outline and turn real school initiatives into meaningful narratives

By the end of the session, the Eco-Warriors walked away with an understanding that every environmental action deserves to be shared and celebrated. Because sustainability doesn’t stop at the project, it grows when the story is told. 🌏

Sustainability conversations are never one-sided. To address environmental challenges, we must first understand the different voices involved in the conversation.

From 1–5 March 2026, 50 schools across Terengganu came together for the 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 & 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, a dynamic workshop designed to explore how environmental issues are communicated across different perspectives. Guided by our trainers, these are some of the highlights from the training:

🌱 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨
Unpacking stereotypes and assumptions that shape how we understand different communities.

🌱 “𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙄𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚, 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨”
Participants took on different roles from businesses to advocates to discuss plastic pollution from different perspectives.

🌱 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙞 𝘿𝙚𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙚
A lively debate on balancing economic gains and environmental protection, proving that sustainability decisions are rarely simple.

Through these activities, participants experienced what Eco-Schools is all about: critical thinking, dialogue, and collaborative problem solving for the planet. Because tomorrow’s sustainability leaders must learn to listen, think, and speak for the planet!

A Cross-Border Celebration of Sustainability, Culture & Youth Leadership Between ES Korea and Malaysia!

We proudly welcomed the delegation from the Jangseong Eco-Schools Club, in collaboration with Jangseong Office of Education, FEE Korea and Eco-Schools Malaysia; marking a powerful moment of international friendship and environmental action.

And the story unfolded in two powerful settings:
🏙 SMK Assunta: An urban school where sustainability grows in the middle of city life.
🌾 SK Kuala Pomson: A rural school where nature is not a lesson, but a way of living.

Students explored sustainable gardens, school-led green innovations, and hands-on environmental initiatives; witnessing how sustainability thrives in both city and countryside settings.

🌱 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬'𝗦 𝗘𝗖𝗢-𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦. 𝗧𝗢𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗢𝗪'𝗦 𝗘𝗦𝗚 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗖𝗘. 🌱

SMK Aminuddin Baki’s Eco-Committee was recently featured in The Star ESG and the story goes 𝙗𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩.

Through the Eco-Schools framework, these students didn’t just "organise campaigns". They:
• Conducted a structured waste audit
• Identified plastic as a key issue using data
• Designed targeted interventions
• Managed projects within a RM2,000 allocation
• Reviewed financial feasibility before implementation

The activities are all early lessons in governance, accountability and responsible decision-making.

The Green Flag they earned is not simply an award moment. It reflects a structured and externally assessed sustainability framework that requires continuous monitoring and renewal.

As workplaces increasingly move toward ESG-centred practices, it is encouraging to see 𝙜𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡.

If we want a workforce capable of navigating ESG complexity, 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚; not extracurricular activity. The ESG conversation must start earlier.

They stepped into full strategy mode during 𝗘𝗰𝗼-𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝟳: 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁 as students and teachers strengthened their readiness for the upcoming Green Flag assessment. This workshop was led by our trainers, Mr Daniel and Ms Nadia, whose guidance helped schools sharpen their data management.

The session opened with a high-energy Kahoot Environmental Quiz that brought back key concepts from previous thematic workshops. They were also introduced to documentation standards; including sample slides, audit checklists, Green Flag Boards, Eco-Codes, and real audit routes from award-winning schools. From there, Eco-Warriors moved into their core task: mapping every Eco-Schools project across the school. They plotted project sites, designed a one-way audit route and learned how to present their environmental review clearly.
