IDT Mexico

IDT Mexico International Disciple Training desires to share God's love through practical and tangible ways, serving the local communities and their families.

International Disciple Training (IDT) was founded 1984 by Pastor Rance Cook. Based on the scriptures of Isaiah 58:6-9, it has always been our purpose to share God's love through practical and tangible ways. Today IDT is headed up by Daniel and Tani Mata who invites you, your families, churches and groups to partner with us to make a difference in the lives of families in the San Quintin Valley i

n Baja, California. IDT has a rich and significant history ~

Through the years IDT has been used by God to impacted many families in the valley by hosting churches from all over the US and Canada, assisting them in building over 3500 homes, changing the lives of those serving as well as those being served forever. Today, in continuing with the passion and purposes given by the Lord to founder Pastor Rance Cook, IDT continues to impact many individuals by operating a technical school at their base in the community of La Misiones. We warmly invite you down to visit us, to see all that is being done for the Kingdom through IDT. IDT has also served in the vital roll of spiritual covering for independent missionaries who feel called to serve the Lord using their unique spiritual gifts and skills. Lore is able to see again out of one eye for the first time in several months! We’re so excited! She’s so excited! She is coloring everyday doing puzzles, reorganized her room and going on walks and bubbling with so much joy! She can see better than she has in years as her eyesight has been slowly diminished by the cataract. As far as prayer needs, the first surgery was on the eye that had been more recently completely covered by the cataract. Her other eye has been unusable now for several years and there’s a concern that even with the cataract surgery, she may have a problem seeing with it or another problem that is not related to the cataract. The doctor said that it looks good, but he can’t assure us until after the surgery, whether she’ll gain her vision in that eye. The second surgery will be in about a month. Please pray that it is successful!

We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that the fundraising for Lorena's double cataract surgery has successfully reached its goal. Thanks to the generous discounts provided by a doctor and hospital in Ensenada, we have successfully raised enough funds to cover the remaining costs along with most of the travel expenses. This means that Lorena will soon be able to regain her sight!
Her first surgery is set for tomorrow, and she traveled to Ensenada with her foster mom Johanne Manzano this morning for the pre-appointments. They will be staying in an Airbnb until Wednesday. We kindly ask you to keep Lorena in your thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and her peace of mind. Lorena has Down syndrome and has the cognitive abilities of a five-year-old. As a result, she will be placed under general anesthesia and does not fully understand what is occurring. Your support and encouragement mean the world to us during this time. We are immensely grateful for the community's help in making this possible for Lorena. We will keep you updated on Lorena's progress and look forward to sharing good news soon.

Lorena needs our help to see again.

Lorena is 38 years old and has Down syndrome. For the past 20 years, she has lived in the loving care of IDT missionary Johanne Mamzano, who became her foster mother when Lorena was a young adult after her mother passed away and she was placed into the DIF system. Over the years, she has become an irreplaceable part of our family.

Two weeks ago, Lorena lost her sight completely.

Her cataracts progressed rapidly and have now closed over both of her eyes, leaving her in total darkness. The change was sudden and devastating. Lorena went from being able to move through the world she knows to living in constant confusion and fear. Seeing the fear on her face when she cannot understand why everything has gone dark is absolutely heartbreaking.

Lorena has struggled with vision issues for some time. In September, she underwent surgery to correct the muscles in her eyes and fix her severe cross-eye condition. The next step in her treatment plan was cataract surgery. At the time, we believed she would qualify to have that procedure done through the free clinics available here in Mexico.

But we recently learned that she does not qualify.

Because Lorena has Down syndrome, doctors need to place her under full anesthesia in order to safely perform the surgery. The free clinics that offer cataract procedures are not equipped to provide general anesthesia, which means Lorena cannot receive care there.

The good news is that Lorena’s doctor believes her blindness could be reversed with cataract surgery. With the proper medical care, she could regain her sight and return to the life she knew.

But without these surgeries, Lorena will remain blind for the rest of her life.

Lorena is one of the sweetest souls you could ever meet. Even though she is 38, she lives with the joyful innocence of a child. Her birthday is the most anticipated day of her entire year. Every year she excitedly tells everyone she meets that she is turning 9 and invites them to her party. Opening her gifts is her favorite part.

She is full of love, laughter, and pure joy.

Right now, she is scared. The world she knew has disappeared.

We are asking for help to raise the funds needed for Lorena’s cataract surgeries so she can see again. Any donation, no matter how small, will bring her one step closer to getting her sight back and living without fear.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.

To donate please visit Johanne’s go fund me link in the first comment.

Thank you for helping give Lorena the chance to see again. 💛
