Dear Friends,
We are grateful for your continued support of Vida Reavivida A.C. Your generosity makes it possible for us to provide safety, hope, and new opportunities to women and children who have survived violence. We would like to share some of the encouraging developments taking place at our shelter.
Today, our shelter is home to many families seeking safety and a fresh start. Approximately half of the families we currently serve are Wixárika (Huichol) families, reflecting our commitment to providing culturally sensitive services to women and children from diverse backgrounds.
At present, we are caring for six mothers and nineteen children, each with their own story of courage and resilience. Together, they are rebuilding their lives in a safe and supportive environment.
We are especially pleased to share that we have entered into a working agreement with the Network of Centros de Justicia para las Mujeres in the State of Jalisco. This agreement includes all five Centros de Justicia para las Mujeres in Jalisc, and under this partnership, our shelters in Nayarit and Guanajuato have been designated as the Network's referral shelters. This collaboration strengthens coordination across state lines, ensuring that women and their children who require the protection and comprehensive services offered by our shelters can be referred quickly and efficiently. We are honored by the confidence the Network has placed in our organization and look forward to expanding our impact through this important partnership.
Accessibility has also been an important focus this year. Thanks to improvements made at the shelter, our facilities are now much more accommodating for individuals with mobility challenges. The installation of a wheelchair ramp and a stair chair has made our shelter significantly more accessible, allowing us to better serve women, children, and visitors with disabilities.
Our Casitas de Transición program continues to be a tremendous success. This program provides families leaving the shelter with the support they need as they begin living independently. So far this year, five families have successfully participated in the program so far this year, receiving assistance as they transition into safe, stable housing and continue building independent lives.
One of the most exciting developments has been the expansion of our educational program. We have always encouraged women to continue their education while residing in the shelter. Now, we are extending that commitment beyond their stay.
Women who wish to complete their high school education or pursue university studies after leaving the shelter continue to receive our support. We provide them with a computer, pay their tuition, and cover the cost of internet access so they can continue studying without interruption. We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of violence and creating lasting independence for women and their families.
Looking toward the future, we are hopeful that, if funding permits, we will be able to open a Casa de Emergencia (Emergency Shelter). This program would provide women and their children with immediate access to a safe, confidential place to stay for up to 72 hours during times of crisis. During this period, our staff would work to identify a safe support network of family or friends whenever possible. For women who do not have a safe network to rely on, we would facilitate their transfer to Casa Esperanza, where they could receive comprehensive shelter services and begin the process of rebuilding their lives. We believe this emergency shelter will fill a critical gap in services by providing immediate protection when every hour matters.
None of these accomplishments—and none of our future goals—would be possible without your compassion and generosity. Every improvement to our shelter, every family that successfully transitions into independent living, every educational opportunity we provide, and every woman and child who finds safety through our partnership with the Network is a direct result of the support we receive from donors like you.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue our mission of restoring hope, protecting families, and creating opportunities for women and children to build brighter futures. Your generosity is changing lives every day, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership.
With heartfelt gratitude,
David
