Hook it Up - Fishing for a Cause is a Mexican recreational sport fishing organization founded in 2020 by two friends, and passionate fishermen, that wanted to share their love of the sport with others while providing assistance to the most vulnerable minors in Mexico.
We believe that empowering youth through sustainable fishing is beneficial for the future of the most vulnerable and also for our oceans.
We organize curated daily fishing trips (spinning, trolling, jigging and fly-fishing) in different areas of the Mayan Riviera (Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras and Punta Allen) and we use part of the business income to teach vulnerable youth how to fish and provide food for their families, while exposing them to the opportunity of gaining knowledge on how to work as boat captains, a well paid and highly rewarding job that can be done in most of Mexico's coastal areas.
The idea of starting this business came after the devastating effects Covid-19 had on Mexican families, leaving many without income and power to afford basic livelihood things such as food, and increasing the numbers of homeless people and at risk youth.
Our goals are:
-Providing customers with the most fun and comprehensive fishing trips in Mexico
-Sharing our passion and knowledge with others
-Empowering youth by using sport fishing as a life skill
-Minimizing the chances of children getting involved in illegal operations
-Creating future job opportunities for at risk minors
