Give New Life, previously know as "Mano de Ayuda" was founded in 1977 by the late doctor John Cook and his wife Lucia. Dr Cook was a former professor of the university of New Mexico and former researcher in NASA's space medicine program. After visiting Mexico for the first time he moved here and dedicated his life to personally tended the medical, surgical and rehabilitation needs of thousands of
people that came to his clinic every Sunday from different parts of Mexico at no charge at all. more than 40,000 of these people have received surgeries which they could never have afforded. He also helped hundreds of children to leave the streets and become professionals. Doctor Cook lovingly did this till the day that the Lord called him to His Presence. A place of Love, Faith and Hope. Give New Life gives an opportunity, a new life and a family to boys and girls that have been abused, abandoned, mistreated and forgotten. Give New Life serves any child who is helpless and abandoned. The kids not only have a refuge, but they are accepted into this new family, currently 39 children, where through the love of Jesus and the personal and individual attentions they receive, they are helped to overcome the traumas and the physical and emotional wounds they bring from their past. The kids receive solid foundations through the constant attendance of emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological needs. They are provided education, health and the love they never had experienced before. Give New Life is indeed a unique place and effective to provide an environment necessary for healing uplifting and to establish foundation for the lives of abandoned abused and neglected children.
