KOSMICA is an institute founded by artist and musician Nahum to promote poetical and critical perspectives of outer space activities and their impact on Earth.

KOSMICA Institute is a space organisation that aims to establish a platform for critical, cultural, and poetic discussions about our relationship with the Universe, space activities, and their impact on Earth. Through festivals, educational programmes and projects, it has collaborated with over 180 artists, cultural practitioners, scientists, astronauts and other space explorers. KOSMICA has ongoing activities in Germany, UK, Mexico, Canada and France.

The call for proposals for KOSMICA Forum 2026: New Astro-Vocabularies is now open and it’s time to join the conversation!

We’re inviting space professionals, artists, cultural practitioners, researchers and critical thinkers to help us find new ways of speaking about space.

Propose a roundtable, a short talk or a workshop.

Online 20 and 21 November, followed by self-organised gatherings in cities worldwide on 22 November. Free to take part.

The call for proposals for KOSMICA Forum 2026: New Astro-Vocabularies is now open. We are inviting researchers, artists, and practitioners across the humanities and cultural fields who are exploring how we understand, imagine, and engage with space activities.

You can propose a roundtable, a short talk or a workshop, across three themes:

Space Activities & Environments
Governance, Resources & Power
Culture, Meaning & Society

Two online days (Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November, 17:00 to 19:30 CET), followed by self-organised gatherings in cities worldwide on Sunday 22 November. Free to take part.

Nancy Holt, Sun Tunnels, 1973-76. Great Basin Desert, Utah.

In 1976, Nancy Holt drove out to the Utah desert and placed four massive concrete cylinders aligned with the solstice sun. During those days, light shoots straight through them. At night, holes drilled in the top project constellations onto the inside walls.

Fifty years later, people still make the trip out to the middle of nowhere to stand inside them and admire the Sun.

Can we talk about Enceladus for a second?

This tiny moon of Saturn, just 500 kilometres across, has a global ocean of liquid water hiding beneath its frozen surface. And from its south pole, geysers of water vapour shoot hundreds of kilometres into space, seeding the Saturn’s rings with ice.

Inside those geysers, scientists have found organic molecules, molecular hydrogen, and signs of hydrothermal activity on the ocean floor. Basically everything we associate with the conditions for life.

We have not found life there yet. But we have found almost everything life needs.

This tiny moon has become one of our favourite ones for sure!

KOSMICA Friends, if you’re in town for Berlin Art Week this week, come join us on Saturday for an evening of video art & conversations exploring our connection to the Cosmos and new ways of imagining our presence in space.

Six works take us from Mars colonisation and inherited planets to moon geese, hypnotic lunar memories and the missing time of a total eclipse, followed by a conversation with the artists and guests.
