On Day 13 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Girls Evolve participated in an impactful event at Lusani Primary School Grounds. The session, organized by Chikulamayembe Women Forum and funded by ActionAid Malawi addressed the alarming rates of GBV in the area.
Community members were urged to report cases of GBV and hold offenders accountable. Chiefs were reminded to work closely with government departments, such as the police, and civil society organizations (CSOs) to create a collaborative and effective response to GBV. The event emphasized that ending GBV is not the responsibility of one group but a shared duty for everyone.
The event also served as an inspiration for girls, as they witnessed women in uniform serving as role models in leadership and public service. The guest of honor, a female Gender Officer, encouraged girls to work hard in school, reject child marriages, and take a leading role in shaping their future.
As Girls Evolve, we are committed to empowering girls and advocating for a GBV-free society. Together, we can inspire change, build resilience, and create a world where everyone can thrive without fear of violence.
