On Thursday, 30th April, I traveled to Eleven Village under GVH Makundika in my capacity as ADC Chairperson, Founder, and Executive Director of Sharp Minds Generation. Accompanied by the dedicated Sharp Minds Generation team, I witnessed firsthand both the challenges and the determination that define this remarkable community.
For children from Luwende, Iman, and surrounding villages, education has long been a difficult journey. Every day, they walk 11 to 12 kilometers to attend classes at Thema 1 Primary School. This harsh reality has contributed to school dropouts, early marriages, and child labor, with many young people turning to charcoal burning and timber work instead of pursuing their education.
But hope is rising in Eleven Village.
Working hand in hand with community members, the Sharp Minds Generation team has already taken the first important step. Together, we have constructed temporary thatched classrooms, as shown in the pictures below, to provide a starting point for learning while we work toward a permanent solution.
In addition, we have arranged to visit the community alongside the Thema Zone Primary Education Advisor (PEA), who will assist us in beginning the process of registering the school with the government. The villagers have also demonstrated extraordinary commitment by molding and burning bricks, which are now ready for the construction of permanent classroom blocks.
This is more than a project. It is a movement driven by community ownership, partnership, and a shared belief that every child deserves access to quality education.
We are now seeking partners, supporters, and well wishers to join us on this journey until the school is fully constructed, officially registered, and transformed into a center of hope for generations to come.
Together, we can build more than classrooms. We can build futures.
