The Inno Youth Club has officially launched its activities for 2026, ushering in a new year with a clear agenda focused on community development, smart agriculture, and youth empowerment. During a planning meeting held at INNORET on 10 January 2026, members charted a dynamic course for the year ahead, blending hands-on agricultural projects with broader thematic initiatives.

Operating under the Innovation Research and Training Centre (INNORET), the Inno Youth Club is a youth-led initiative in Mzuzu dedicated to practical skills development, community entrepreneurship, and sustainable agricultural innovation.

At the Innovation Research and Training Centre (INNORET) in Mzuzu, a dynamic group of young change-makers is turning concern into concrete action. Through the INNO Youth Club, students and young professionals are not just learning about environmental challenges, they’re building the solutions with their own hands. Their flagship initiative? The local production and distribution of Chitetezo Mbaula, Malawi’s improved cookstove designed to tackle air pollution, deforestation, and household health risks.

The Chitetezo Mbaula is more than just a stove, it’s a tool for transformation. By burning fuel more efficiently, it significantly reduces harmful indoor smoke, a leading cause of respiratory illness in Malawian households. It also cuts charcoal and firewood use by up to 60%, easing pressure on Malawi’s forests and helping families save time and money.

The INNO Youth Club isn’t just advocating for clean air, they’re manufacturing it. Under the guidance of INNORET’s technical experts, club members are involved in every stage of the stove’s lifecycle: from material sourcing and assembly to quality testing and community demonstrations. This hands-on approach gives them practical skills in entrepreneurship, sustainable technology, and environmental stewardship.

“We’re not waiting for change, we’re building it,” says one of the club’s coordinators Elina Kanyenda. “Every Chitetezo Mbaula we produce is a step toward cleaner air, healthier families, and a greener Malawi.”

The initiative directly supports Malawi’s National Waste Management Strategy, Climate Change Policy, and several Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 (Good Health), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By engaging youth in production, the project also advances SDG 8 (Decent Work) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities).

You can support this youth-driven initiative by purchasing a Chitetezo Mbaula for your home or as a donation to a family in need. Follow INNORET’s journey online or visit their center in Mzuzu to learn more.

Yesterday's powerful discussion was packed with actionable advice for the youth of Mzuzu. Here are the core messages our speakers left us with:

Beyond Theory: Don't just learn it, build it. Translate school knowledge into tangible products and solutions.

Productivity: Shift your mindset from consumption to creation. Be productive with your time and skills.

a Vision: A clear vision is your roadmap to the future. Know where you are going.

Continuously: Never set limits on your growth. The learning journey never ends.

Commitment: Go the extra mile in everything you do. Show up, stand out, and lead by action.

& Be Visible: Connect with others. Your network is your net worth, and opportunities see those who are seen.

: Give your time. It builds experience, character, and opens unexpected doors.

Patience: Success is a marathon, not a sprint. Trust the process.

Your Village: You are a product of collective effort. Remember and appreciate those who help you.

Resilient: Fall down seven times, stand up eight. Challenges are setups for comebacks.

Consistent: Small, daily actions lead to massive results. Don't just be motivated, be disciplined.

Mentorship: Be open to guidance. Find those who have walked the path and learn from them.

Out: Opportunities can't find you in your bedroom. Get out, engage, and put yourself in the way of success.

a Good Personality: Treat others with respect. Your character is your most valuable asset.

Your Digital Footprint: Be mindful of what you post online. Your digital reputation matters.

Let's carry these lessons forward and build a more empowered, resilient generation.

A Resounding Success: Inno Youth Club’s Roundtable on Youth Empowerment & Resilience.

What an incredible and inspiring day it was! This past Thursday, 13th November 2025, the Inno Youth Club under Innoret hosted a dynamic Round Table Discussion under the powerful theme: "Youth Empowerment and Resilience."

The atmosphere was electric, filled with insightful conversations, shared dreams, and a collective drive to shape the future. We were thrilled to see a vibrant gathering of young minds from various clubs across Mzuzu, all united by a common goal.

The discussion was graced by distinguished guests who shared invaluable wisdom:
A special thank you to Mr. Msokwa, the District Youth Officer for Mzuzu City, for his guiding words on navigating career paths and building personal resilience in today's world.

Our profound gratitude to Dr. Russel Chidya, the CEO/Team Leader of Innoret, for a powerful motivational talk that ignited a fire of ambition and purpose in all of us.

A huge shout-out to Mr Frank Banda of Pakaya Initiative, Mr. Mathews Botha of Do Your Part (DYP), and Miss Raphaella Kamkota (Zyola farm founder) for their uplifting presentation, reminding every youth of their power to take action and make a difference.

We were honoured to host the leadership of the Mzuzu Youth Network, Chairperson, Vice Chair, and Vice Treasurer.

Adding a unique and powerful perspective, we invited a successful local farmer who demonstrated that passion and innovation in agriculture are viable and prosperous career paths for the youth.

This is just the beginning. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and contributed to making this event a monumental success. The journey towards an empowered and resilient youth generation continues.

From Brainstorm to Blamestorm: Inno Youth Club Ignites the Next Big Thing.

Last week, the energy at the Inno Youth Club was absolutely electric. We traded textbooks for whiteboards and ideas for action in our most explosive session yet: The Great Blamestorm.

Forget quiet brainstorming, this was a full-throttle, no-idea-is-too-crazy, blamestorming bonanza! Our brilliant youths unleashed a whirlwind of innovative business concepts, from eco-friendly tech solutions to community-building apps and everything in between.

But the magic didn't stop there. The room truly came alive during our interactive panel with our incredible leaders. This wasn't a lecture; it was a dynamic, two-way conversation where every voice was heard. Elina KanyendaInnoretRichard Phiri

Youth-Led Innovation for a Better Malawi.

On September 9th, Miss Ellina Kanyenda, Project and Training Officer for INNORET, engaged with Inno Youth Club to hear about their ongoing projects and future initiatives. The session highlighted powerful youth-led efforts in sexual reproductive health, climate action, and agriculture & entrepreneurship.

From menstrual health advocacy to greenhouse gas reduction and poultry farming, the youth showcased bold ideas for sustainable development. Miss Kanyenda encouraged them to move from planning to implementation, reminding them:
“These ideas are seeds of change-Malawi needs your brilliance now more than ever.”
With renewed energy and commitment, Inno Youth Club continues to lead the way in shaping a better, youth-driven Malawi🇲🇼
