Presenting the 'National Youth Manifesto' to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Today, the Youth-Decide Campaign (YDC) leadership presented the National Youth Manifesto to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Alfred Gangata. The Minister assured the delegation of Malawi Government commitment to meaningful youth development, and urged the Campaign to sustain and broaden its engagement on the Youth Manifesto issues with various government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Launched on July 25, 2025, the National Youth Manifesto represents a social contract between young people and those driving public policy including MDAs. It outlines youth priorities in various sectors including governance, health, education, economic justice, climate action, and digital inclusion.

POST-ELECTION DIALOGUE ON YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN THE 2025 ELECTIONS

On Friday, YAS, in partnership with the Youth Decide Campaign (YDC), convened a multi-stakeholder post-election dialogue to take stock of youth participation in the 2025 Elections, and develop practical recommendations to strengthen youth influence in future electoral cycles and broader governance.

SUPPORTING YOUTH NGOs IN ADVANCING THE NATIONAL YOUTH MANIFESTO

As we continue to grow momentum in advancing implementation of the National Youth Manifesto, today, together with the Youth Decide Campaign (YDC), we convened a capacity strengthening workshop for Youth NGOs. Drawn from all the 35 local councils, the youth leaders engaged in strategic conventions ranging from 'post-elections advocacy', digital campaign strategies, to Manifesto advocacy planning.

Yesterday, the Youth-Decide Campaign (YDC), officially presented the National Youth Manifesto to the Parliamentary Youth Caucus. The Caucus committed to championing the National Youth Manifesto youth issues through Parliament.

ENGAGEMENT BETWEEN THE YOUTH SECTOR ACTORS AND THE PARLIAMENTARY YOUTH CAUCUS

Pursuant to our shared commitment to youth development, YAS in collaboration with the National Youth Council of Malawi and Centre for Civil Society Strengthening, was today honoured to host a thought-provoking engagement between the Parliamentary Youth Caucus and leading youth NGOs under the Youth-Decide Campaign.

This strategic engagement focused on three key objectives: (1) Presenting findings from the “Capacity Needs Assessment of the Parliamentary Youth Caucus and Selected Youth-focused CSOs” to guide interventions of the Youth Caucus; (2) Co-defining a strategic agenda for collaboration between the Youth Sector and the Caucus for the 2026-2027 fiscal year; and (3) Sharing youth-sector reflections on the 2026/2027 National Budget, ensuring that the youth perspective is not only heard but integrated into resource allocation.

We look forward to strengthening collaboration between the youth sector and Parliament in advancing the development needs of Malawian youth.

Taking the NATIONAL YOUTH MANIFESTO to M'mbelwa District Council.

Last Friday, together with our district partner, Mzimba Youth Organisation, we were honoured to engage the M'mbelwa district council authorities and CSOs on the Youth Manifesto. These sessions are designed to raise awareness and spark integration of the youth priorities in the plans and budgets of the local authorities and NGOs.
