Following the recent reported cases of a rabid dog in Chiwavi, Katoto, Mchengautuba, and Chiwanja, a coordinated response was promptly undertaken.
In collaboration with the Government through Mzuzu Veterinary Office, a mass rabies vaccination campaign was successfully carried out across the affected areas.
We are pleased to report that a total of 1,600 animals were vaccinated during this exercise, a significant step toward controlling the spread of this dangerous disease and safeguarding both animal and human health within our communities.
Rabies remains a fatal disease once clinical signs appear, but it is entirely preventable through timely vaccination. We therefore strongly encourage all pet owners to take responsibility by ensuring their dogs and other susceptible animals are routinely vaccinated.
