Pakaya Initiative, yesterday we were privileged to attend a dialogue organized by the Malawi Economic Justice Network on empowering young voices in Malawi's economic governance and policy at the Mzuzu City Council Hall. The event's theme, "Enhancing Economic Justice and Youth Engagement," underscored the significance of youth participation in decision-making activities.

The dialogue brought together key partners such as Mzuzu University students, Malawi Girl Guide, and Apause Malawi, and emphasized the need for young people to be well-informed about economic issues and actively advocate for economic justice.

During the panel discussion, critical issues affecting young people were highlighted, including high unemployment levels, exploitation, and inequality as major economic challenges.

Pakaya Initiative Joins Lusangazi Housing Project Meeting

On 11 March 2026, Pakaya Initiative participated in a meeting held from 7,20am to 12,00pm at the chambers of Mzuzu City Council with Habitat for Humanity Malawi and other partners.

During the meeting, Habitat for Humanity Malawi shared how their projects are implemented and highlighted their mission of ensuring every Malawian has a decent place to live.

The discussion focused on the Lusangazi Project, a youth led initiative by Do Your Part Initiative and Rhema Foundation in partnership with other organisations.

Pakaya Initiative committed to supporting the project through volunteer work to help build a dignified home for three children in Lusangazi who currently live in a dilapidated shelter with their mentally ill mother and disabled father.

Trees are extremely important to our lives and to the health of our environment. They provide clean air, reduce pollution, prevent soil erosion, conserve water, and help combat climate change. Trees also create shade, beautify our surroundings, and support wildlife.

We must take responsibility to protect and conserve our environment by planting more trees in Mzuzu and across Malawi. By increasing tree planting initiatives, we can build greener communities, improve our climate resilience, and secure a healthier future for the next generation.

Let us work together to plant and protect trees for a sustainable Malawi. 🌱
