Today, 22 July 2026, Ungweru Organisation conducted an interactive legal clinic at Mzuzu Prison, equipping inmates with practical knowledge on bail rights and plea bargaining to help them make informed legal decisions.

Led by 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁, 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿, the session provided clear guidance on bail eligibility, application procedures, plea bargaining processes, and the importance of understanding one's legal rights before making critical decisions. Participants actively engaged in discussions, asked practical questions, and shared experiences that helped clarify common misconceptions about the justice system.

The clinic also included one-to-one consultations, where inmates received tailored guidance on their individual cases, including preparing bail applications, engaging family members or sureties, and seeking legal representation where necessary.

Through initiatives like this, Ungweru Organisation remains committed to promoting access to justice by ensuring that vulnerable individuals are informed, empowered, and better equipped to navigate the legal system.

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Governance, Public Administration, Business Administration, Development Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred);
• At least 5–10 years of demonstrated experience in institutional capacity building, corporate governance, and leadership training;
• Proven experience working with civil society organizations or non-profit institutions;
• Strong facilitation, communication, and report writing skills;
• Demonstrated ability to develop practical frameworks and tools for organizational strengthening.

JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT-YOUTH AND PROGRAMS ASSISTANT

Ungweru Organisation through the Youth Development Unit is seeking to recruit Youth and Programs Assistant.

JOB PURPOSE
He/She will support the coordination, administration, and implementation of youth development programs targeting young adults within the Youth Development Unit. This role bridges field-based program facilitation with essential administrative and financial tracking to ensure smooth operations across multiple initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES
• A Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, Youth Work, Project Management, or a related social science discipline.
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in youth development, life skills facilitation, or human development frameworks.
• Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage paperwork, track logistical expenses, and prevent administrative gaps.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills for community and stakeholder engagement.
• Prior experience as a high-performing volunteer or facilitator within peer-driven youth programs (such as the SELL program) is highly desirable.
