We recently attended the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence event at Kangwere Primary School Ground in Mchinji. This year's theme is "UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls".

The event aimed to raise awareness about gender-based violence, promote digital safety, and empower young girls to take action against violence. Activities included cultural performances, panel discussions, and youth-led initiatives.

In Malawi, nearly 1 in 2 women (46%) have experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. Digital violence is a growing concern, with many women and girls facing harassment, exploitation, and hate speech online.

The event aligns with global efforts to combat gender-based violence, emphasizing the need for collective action to protect women's rights and promote a safer, more equitable society.
