Humanitarian Organization for Peoples’ Empowerment (HOPE Foundation - Mangochi) . We are a local Charitable Foundation in Malawi / not for profit making non Governmental organization, established on 01 / 01 / 2010 to complement Government efforts in reducing Poverty, Hunger Illiteracy and Diseases. Having desires of contributing constructively towards the promotion of the Youths and Women’ rights; We are determined to empower the vulnerable people in a bid to fight poverty, hunger & Illiteracy that perforates their vulnerability risks to exploitation.
Our vision is a healthy & educated, well trained, vibrant productive Society with reduced Poverty through increased access to Information, Skills and relevant resources for effective services delivery, resulting into improved livelihoods endeavours of the under privileged.
Our Mission is to create public awareness and empower disadvantaged people at grass-roots level to undertake development initiatives which are integral, gender equity and environment sensitive, and sustainable in the promotion of social justice, human dignity and self reliance through active participation of the people themselves to take up responsibilities of their own destinies, is to contribute toward eradication of poverty, hunger Diseases and unemployment problems amongst the urban and rural poor population inclusive of subsistence farmers, on food and income insecurity, thereby improving their livelihoods in addressing challenges that affect their vulnerability risks to exploitation.
Promotes advocacy and lobby for access to quality services with regards to vulnerable Women, Youths and Children’s rights to Health, Social and Economical wellbeing

6) Provides capacity building & mentorship support to grassroots Community Organizations
7) Mobilize resources for the exploration and development of underutilized talents alongside Entrepreneurship Skills programs
Some our notable achievements to date:
HOPE Organization collaborates with Women Against AIDS Organization (WAGA), the only Women lead organization which is vigorously advocating for the rights of Women and girls. The organizations jointly promote advocacy for Girls and Women’s rights through Umoyo Community Radio Station which the two entities established to Advance for Women, Girls and Children’s rights with funding from Kanimambo Association of Italy.
With the involvement of Community leaderships inclusive of the Chiefs, Cultural operators and Faith Leaders the organization facilitated the creation of THREE vibrant Best Cultural Practice Committees to encourage Teen Mothers’ go back to School Policy. The Cultural Committees conduct social mobilization and Community awareness and sensitization campaigns on harmful Cultural practices to end Gender Based and Domestic Violence inclusive of Violence against Women and Girls in Mangochi District.
Through Radio Communication for Development (RC4D) the Organization disseminates information using Community Radio Listeners Clubs to improve community knowledge on Gender, Human Rights, and Adolescents Sexual and Reproductive Health rights including HIV Prevention. The Radio Programs aims at increasing public awareness and access to information on issues of Sexual & Reproductive Health rights, and HIV & AIDS. The interventions focus on factors exposing high HIV transmission in women and girls. Adolescents Sexual Reproductive Health rights promotion in line with Girls go back to School Education Policies. Also on the importance of Girls Education to bridge up the gaps that exist on Gender Equality between boys and Girls. In this case, the projects explored lives of girl children who become mothers at early ages, which impact badly on their social lives.
Through Communication for Development (T4D), the Organization also conducts community sensitization and awareness on sustainable Environment resources conservation, Waste Management and on the benefits of decomposable waste recycling for soil fertility.
ü HIV / AIDS & TB care and prevention: The Foundation, jointly conducted awareness and sensitization meeting with community leaders for setting up sputum collection points with active case finding and sputum collection sites in high risk populations. This is done through house to house visits by volunteers. Also Promoted Community based Outreach and moonlight HIV Testing and Counselling services for the Vulnerable Populations with the training of expert patients and Peer Educators to conduct healthcare referrals for their peers amongst key and vulnerable populations for HIV & TB Currently the foundation provide Community Home Based care services to PLHIV Support Groups in TB/HIV treatment among the chronically ill.
ü Capacity Building for Community Based Organizations: The Foundation with funding from the Social Development Council (SEDC) has been providing capacity building training support to grassroots Community Based Organizations comprising of Women, Youths and People living with HIV working on various Social and Economic Enhancement programmes targeted over 5,000 beneficiaries inclusive of Youths especially Girls and Women so that they can be able to moved up from the poverty trap that makes them vulnerable to various abuses.
ü The Foundation also provides mentorship services support to Tiphunzitsane Youths Organization (TIYO) on Institutional development and Human resources management skills and Material provision also helps in capacity building for Financial Resources mobilization and Management i.e. provides training in terms of Projects formulation, designing and community resources mobilization and projects proposals writing for Donors’ support. TIYO promotes Pre- School education in a bid to improve early learning skills for Children 3 – 5 years in Early Child Development circles.
