YASCON is a network of youths from Malawi, Uganda and Kenya with strong interest and passion in Nature and Environmental conservation through community action, and environmental education.

Malingana ndi Mtayamanja, mlingowu ndi wochepa poyerekeza ndi momwe amayembekezera komabe ati kupitiriza mgwirizano wawo ndi achinyamata m'dziko muno kutha kuthandiza kupititsa patsogolo ntchito yosamalira ndi kubwezeretsa chilengedwe.

Iwo atinso mavuto a ng'amba ndi kusefukira kwa madzi zomwe zidakhudza madera ena zidapsinja mmene bungweli limayenera kugwirira ntchito yake m'nyengoyi.

Youth Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (YASCON) is a youth led green movement advocating for the protection, restoration and conservation of nature and environment.

With a mission to empower youths to engage in nature and environmental conservation through education, advocacy, community action and sustainable practices, the organization is grounded in a vision of having a world where young people lead in protecting, restoring and sustaining nature and environment for present and future generations.

YASCON is therefore looking for well qualified and experienced individuals to join the organization's Board of Directors and help in providing strategic direction, oversight and support to ensure it achieves it's objectives.

KEY QUALITIES
~Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
~Commitment to conservation and youth development
~Intergrity and good governance values
~Prior Board or leadership experience is an added advantage
~Those with Masters Degree or PhD are encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS
Interested applicants should have a Masters Degree in a relevant field.Those with PhDs are encouraged to express their interest.

Youth Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (YASCON) is a youth led green movement advocating for the protection, restoration and conservation of nature and environment in Malawi.

With a mission to empower youths to engage in nature and environmental conservation through education, advocacy, community action and sustainable practices, the organization is grounded in a vision of having a world where young people lead in protecting, restoring and sustaining nature and environment for present and future generations.

YASCON is therefore looking for passionate and self motivated young people to join the organization on voluntary basis and help in advancing environmental protection, restoration and conservation efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS
Interested applicants should be holders of a Master's Degree in either of the following:

~Monitoring and Evaluation
~Natural Resources Management
~Land Administration
~Geography
~Law
~Human Resource Management

We continue giving Highlights of the tree planting exercises we conducted in the 2025/26 National Forestry Season.

At Dula Village Forest, Traditional Authority Kachenga in Balaka district, we successfully planted trees in a display of our environmental restoration efforts. This initiative was led by YASCON Conservation Coordinator M***a John Witness.

Our Conservation Coordinator Chisomo Nyirenda led a tree planting exercise at Msinde Forest in Msinde Village, T/A Msinde, Lilongwe.

This initiative was part of several activities marking YASCON's commitment to the 2025/26 National Forestry Season.

As the National Forestry Season comes to an end in few weeks time, we continue to update our various stakeholders on the several activities our organization conducted in respect to the 2025/26 National Forestry Season.

We carried out a tree planting exercise at Malembo Secondary School in the area of Traditional Authority Malembo in Lilongwe. Our Conversation Coordinator Chisomo Nyirenda led the event.

On 15th December, 2025, the National Forestry Season of 2025/26 commenced, with the Malawi Government officially launching the season on 16th January, 2026 at Mpata Primary School Ground in Traditional Authority Nkhumba in Phalombe district.

In observance of this period, Yascon has implemented various activities.

As the season comes to an end on 15th April, 2026, we wish to give highlights of our tree planting exercises we have been conducting.

With the first highlight being a tree planting activity conducted at Chikangulu CDSS in Masuku Village, Traditional Authority Mpunga in Chiradzulu district. Our Conservation Coordinator Rashid Mailosi led the event.

A Yascon Conservation Club at Namwera Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Mangochi yesterday March 19, 2026, conducted a tree planting exercise as part of activities marking the 2026 Forestry Season.

On 13th March, 2026, we were privileged to attend a stakeholders meeting organized by Mangochi Local Forestry Management Board at Adams Lodge in Chiponde, Mangochi District.

Among several developments that came out, a Memorandum of Understanding between YASCON and the Board was proposed. Our work will be streamlined in accordance with the objectives and mandate of the board.

YASCON National Coordinator Mwai Mtayamanja addressed the participants where he outlined our organization's objectives and activities we have been conducting.

Among other stakeholders present were the Mangochi District Forestry Officer, Mangochi District Council Chairperson, Forestry Officers and other Environmental movement Groups.

On March 10th and 11th, YASCON has been attending a "Social Enterprise Training" at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre.

The two day Social Enterprise training was organized by the Council for Non-Governmental Organizations in Malawi (CONGOMA) and the NGO- Regulatory Authority (NGORA).

Speaking on behalf of all the participating organisations, YASCON National Coordinator Mwai Mtayamanja encouraged the NGOs to embrace the social entreprise model for resource mobilisation, arguing that self-sufficiency in NGO setup is vital for sustainable social impacts and survival in absence of donor aid.

Mtayamanja presented a concept business plan as part of practical presentation of what the NGOs have learnt during the training.

As YASCON, we acknowledge the skills learnt and vow to establish enterprises that will sustain our impact to the society even when donors withdraw their support.
