ARMA President Opens Zimbabwe National Symposium

The Association for Records Managers and Archivists (ARMA) – Malawi is proud to announce that our President, Mr. Alufeyo Manda, has successfully arrived in Zimbabwe and officially opened the National Symposium of the Zimbabwe Society of Archivists as the Keynote Speaker.

ARMA Leadership Meeting Underway

Today, the Association for Records Managers and Archivists (ARMA) – Malawi is holding a Chairpersons and Regional Coordinators Meeting at the Reserve Bank of Malawi Club House, Area 47, Lilongwe.

The meeting brings together ARMA leadership and subcommittee chairpersons to present work plans and budgets, discuss strategic priorities, and align activities that will guide the Association’s operations for the coming year.

Key discussions include committee work plans, partnerships, training and CPD initiatives, research development, financial planning, and the development of ARMA’s strategic plan.

This engagement reflects ARMA’s continued commitment to strengthening professional records and archives management, promoting collaboration, and advancing the profession in Malawi.

Today, the executive team of ARMA held a high-level engagement meeting with the senior Assistant Executive Secretary and Head of Programmes at UNESCO, Mr. Christopher Magomero, at CHAM House.

The meeting focused on the presentation of a project proposal aimed at strengthening community archives in archiving systems, safeguarding indigenous knowledge and promoting the preservation of cultural heritage in Malawi. Constructive discussions were conducted on potential areas of collaboration, institutional support mechanism, and alignment with national and international cultural preservation frameworks.

The engagement marks a significant step towards strategic partnership in advancing professional records and archives management, while reinforcing efforts to project and document Malawi's intangible and documentary heritage.
