Invitation for Bids: Supply and Delivery of Livestock and Floating Fish Feed

Background
The Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF Canada) is a non-profit organization that supports co-operative businesses and financial institutions to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods worldwide. It works to strengthen co-operatives in developing countries by providing technical assistance, funding, and training programs to empower communities through sustainable economic development.

CDF Canada is implementing the Integrating Aquaculture-Agriculture to Combat Food Insecurity in Malawi (IAAM) Project, aimed at increasing the productivity and income of, and access to markets by small-scale food producers, especially women, engaged in the integrated aquaculture-agriculture system (IAAS) comprising of fish, crops, livestock, and agroforestry sub-systems to combat food insecurity in eight districts across Malawi.

The project is supporting sustainable aquaculture development in Malawi by promoting integrated aquaculture and agriculture culture systems in pond-based system. CDF Canada is seeking to procure small ruminants (rabbits) and poultry (ducks) and high-quality floating fish feed for the individual fish farmers that have adopted the integrated aquaculture and agriculture integrated systems in Ntchisi, Dowa, Nkhotakota, Zomba, Thyolo, Mzimba, Rumphi and Chitipa districts.

It is time to harvest. It has been an amazing 6 months working with smallholder farmers in groups using the Demonstration sites model to ensure knowledge improvement in the farmers using the lead farmer approach.

We are glad to have been on the ground implementing the IAAS activities alongside various stakeholders.

It wasn't just a mere trade fair. This year the IAAM project team showcased what stories it is writing out there through the project. It was beautiful seeing our farmers from Zomba on pavilions.

It is great seeing production across various districts on all our integration components. Crop, Livestock, fruit tree, and fish integration (IAAS) is proving to be the way to go in Malawi yielding great results at various levels.

Demo sites have successfully implemented various IAAS interventions for the first cycle, and Community Agribusiness Partners-CAP Malawi in collaboration with CDF Canada - IAAM Project and the Department of Fisheries - Malawi is looking forward to the harvest, especially for the aquaculture component.

CAP participated in the Integrated Catchment Management (ICM) and Irrigation Launch which was hosted by Thyolo District Council. The launch aimed to promote a holistic and coordinated approach to sustainable land and water management in response to the increasing challenges of land degradation, soil erosion, and climate variability affecting the district. CAP showcased some of the interventions being promoted through IAAM Project in partnership with Cooperative Development Foundation of Canada
