This month marks HAAN Awareness Month, a time dedicated to strengthening conversations around HIV awareness, prevention, and testing in Malawi.
Knowing your HIV status remains one of the most powerful steps a person can take to protect their health and the health of their community. When people know their status, they are able to access treatment early, protect their partners, and live long and healthy lives. Yet many people still delay testing because of fear, stigma, or lack of information.
Through the Challenge, everyone is being encouraged to take action and become part of the movement to end HIV as a public health threat by 2030.
Here is how you can participate:
1. Take a photo, record a short video, or write a message about why knowing your HIV status is important to you.
2. Share it on your page using ,
3. Tag three friends and encourage them to do the same.

Your voice can help normalize HIV testing, fight stigma, and inspire someone else to take that important step.

This month, let us start conversations, support one another, and remind Malawi that knowing your status saves lives.

Today, as the world marks International Women’s Day, the HIV Awareness and Action Network celebrates the strength, resilience, and leadership of women in Malawi and across the globe.

Women continue to play a vital role in the fight against HIV and AIDS — as caregivers, health workers, advocates, and community leaders. Their voices and leadership remain essential in the effort to end HIV as a public health threat by 2030.

However, many women, including transgender women, female s*x workers, and girls still face challenges such as gender inequality, stigma, and limited access to health services, which increase their vulnerability to HIV. It is being recognized that empowering women with knowledge, access to prevention and treatment, and protection of their rights is key to ending the epidemic.

This International Women’s Day, we stand with women everywhere and reaffirm our commitment to a future where every woman and girl can live healthy, informed, and empowered.

Happy International Women’s Day. 💜
