SPOTLIGHT | Day 1 at the 2026 Malawi National Youth Summit
We are proud to be part of the 2026 Malawi National Youth Summit at BICC, Lilongwe one of Malawi’s key platforms bringing young people and stakeholders together to discuss issues shaping the future of our country.
Representing Green Children at the Summit is our Founder and Team Lead, Simeon Kalua, joining fellow young leaders, policymakers, development partners and stakeholders in conversations around youth leadership, economic opportunities, innovation, entrepreneurship, climate action and meaningful youth participation.
A powerful highlight from Day 1 was the speech by UN Resident Coordinator to Malawi, Becky Adda-Dontoh, who celebrated the potential of Malawi’s young people and drew inspiration from the success of the Malawi Scorchers. Her message was clear: Malawi’s youthful population is a tremendous strength but that strength can only be fully realized when young people have access to opportunities, support and meaningful spaces to lead.
At Green Children, we believe young people and children are not simply beneficiaries of development they are partners, innovators and leaders of change.
As we continue participating in this important national dialogue, we are committed to ensuring that children and young people have the knowledge, confidence, opportunities and platforms to contribute to building a greener, more inclusive and sustainable Malawi.
