Lighthouse Trust

Lighthouse Trust In 2002, Lighthouse was the first public clinic to provide lifesaving anti-retroviral therapy (ART) for HIV-infected patients in Malawi.

Lighthouse Trust, a recognized World Health Organization Center of Excellence, works in close coordination with the Ministry of Health and District Health Office to operate two, large, public, integrated HIV testing, treatment and care clinics in Lilongwe, Malawi: one on the campus Kamuzu Central Hospital, the major hospital in Malawi's capital Lilongwe, and another next to the central bus station

at Bwaila Hospital – the Martin Preuss Center. Now, combining both our Lighthouse and Martin Preuss Center clients, we are the largest provider of ART in Malawi’s central region with over 13,000 patients. Both our clinics provide comprehensive reproductive health services, including family planning, cancer screening, and diagnostics for sexually transmitted infections. Our training centre complements our clinic work: we run classroom, hands-on, and skills-based trainings for MoH and partner organizations to certify providers of HIV testing and counselling, palliative care, and ART throughout the central region.
