Our CSE Defender, Clara Kampeni, participated in an Awareness and Orientation Session on HIV Prevention and the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Management) Act, organized by the National AIDS Commission (NAC)

One important reminder: PrEP protects against HIV, but it does not protect against other STIs.

This is exactly why comprehensive s*xuality education is paramount for young people. Young people need accurate information to understand their s*xual and reproductive health, prevent HIV and STIs, challenge misinformation, and make informed decisions.

Through CSE, we can create a generation that is informed, empowered and confident to make healthy decisions.

This Friday, Podcast Malawi takes the conversation deeper into how limited access to Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) is contributing to the growing use of s*x enhancement drugs among young people in Malawi.

The episode features Chimwemwe Chisale Youth Researcher, and Promise Chipeta CSE Defender, drawing on findings from a Youth Researchers Academy study conducted in Dedza Rural and Lilongwe Urban.

The discussion explores the role of limited access to accurate s*xuality information, myths and misconceptions, peer influence, cultural norms and easy access to s*x enhancement products.

It also highlights potential SRHR consequences and the need to strengthen CSE, promote informed decision-making and strengthen regulation of the sale and distribution of these products.

We have successfully recorded two podcast episodes at Lab 20 Studios, creating a platform for open and honest conversations on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and the issues affecting young people in Malawi.

We explore why CSE is essential, the gaps in its delivery, and the importance of ensuring every young person has access to accurate, evidence-based information. Discussions also addressed teenage pregnancy, HIV prevention, stigma, mental health, and s*xual and reproductive health and rights.

By amplifying youth voices through digital platforms, we are challenging harmful myths, encouraging informed decision-making, and advocating for stronger access to quality Comprehensive Sexuality Education.

Our CSE Defenders, Promise and Clara, participated in a one-day training on Countering Myths, Misinformation and Opposition to Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in Malawi, organized by the Malawi SRHR Alliance with support from UNFPA through the EmpowerED Project.

The training strengthened their knowledge of CSE, SRHR, HIV and AIDS, inclusion, gender-transformative approaches, and strategies for addressing misinformation online. They also gained practical digital advocacy skills to promote accurate, evidence-based information and foster positive conversations among young people and communities.

Together, we are building a generation of informed advocates who can challenge harmful narratives and champion access to accurate SRHR information for all.
