Business success in Africa is not about who build it, is about who knows that you are building it, who believes in you and who is willing to open doors when it is needed. With scarcity of resources, you don't need permission from anyone to persue your dreams and build necessary networks, start small and start now. Opening your mouth isn't just crazy it is a strategic move to achieve your dreams in Africa. Influence begins with credibility, people need to know that you are capable to deliver to mention your name in boardrooms, that's how people win contracts you can't afford this journey of entrepreneurship in isolation. ~Inspired by Vusi Thembekwayo

Africa is next and your start-up is the next. First of all let me tell you that I play the long term game. Average age in Africa is 20 years and this means a decade from now these will join the mainstream of economy. For those who don't understand, these will be our customers, partners, investors barely two decades from now and this will have a positive impact on our startups, if we hold on. We don't have to be the best now, it takes 6 years to train a medical doctor and about 5 more years for this doctor to gain experience in the field. The same analogy is true with entrepreneurship even way harder because it's beyond any career.

Our community our asset, we are building resilient communities that can stand climate change and economic shocks at Mlatho Farming Enterprise and General Services. We aim to train 1000 farmers in Permaculture by December 2026. Don't miss this opportunity, it's beyond certification.

Advice to applicants who are interested in the Young African Leaders Initiative. Here are key tips for you:

1. Be Authentic and Passionate: Try to be genuine in your applications. YALI seeks individuals who are passionate about their communities and the changes they want to make. Your personal stories and motivations should be clear and heartfelt.

2. Clearly Define Your Goals: Articulate goals in both the short and long term. What do you hope to achieve from the YALI program, and how will it help you create a lasting impact?

3. Focus on Impact: emphasize the impact of your work or the potential impact of your ideas. Whether you are working in agriculture, business, health, or governance, it is crucial to show how your work benefits others and contributes to Africa's development.

4. Demonstrate Leadership Potential: YALI is about developing leaders. You should provide examples of how you’ve led projects or initiatives, even in small ways, and how you’ve inspired or supported others.I used my small contributions at Mlatho Farms among others and if you look at them on our social media page, they are not that amazing. You need story telling skills.

5. Leverage Your Network: highlight any community work or collaborations you have been involved in. Mention how building relationships and working with others has helped you create change, as YALI values teamwork and networking.

6. Stay Humble and Open to Learning: YALI is not just about what participants already know but also what they are willing to learn. You should demonstrate your willingness to grow and learn from peers and mentors.

7. Strong Application Writing: Be reminded to take time to carefully craft your essays and responses. You should avoid generic answers and tailor each response to reflect your unique journey and passion.

8. Highlight Achievements with Measurable Results: As applicants you should back up your statements with tangible results if you've started a business or trained others.

You can't connect the dots by looking forward, you can only connect the dots by looking backwards. You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something, your gut, destiny, life, karma whatever because believing that the dots will connect down the road, will give you the confidence to follow your heart even if it leads you off the well worn path and that will make all the difference. Find something that you love doing, I was lucky, I found that early in life, if don't have one keep looking and don't settle. ~Inspired by Steve Jobs
