Jane Ansah Foundation Empowers University Student with Short Stature

The Jane Ansah Foundation, founded by Vice President Dr Jane Ansah, has supported Kingsley James Tembo, a second-year Library and Information Sciences student at the University of Malawi, with food, groceries, pocket money, transport assistance and school necessities ahead of the reopening of the college.

Tembo, who has short stature and comes from Kafukule Village in Mzimba, expressed gratitude to Dr Ansah and the foundation, saying the assistance will ease his daily challenges and help him concentrate on his education.

Acting Board of Trustees Chairperson Reverend Rodgers Tenthema Edward Kamanga said the foundation regards education as an important tool for empowering vulnerable people to become independent and achieve their future aspirations.

The Vice President of Malawi Dr Jane Mayemu Ansah on 15 August, 2026 hosted a luncheon for people living with Albinism and people with short stature in Lilongwe.

In Her speech, the Vice President expressed that the foundation is putting great effort in improving the welfare of people with short stature and people with albinism and making sure that they enjoy equal rights with everyone.

Dr Ansah also urged the group not to be terrified and restricted by social barriers so that they can sustain their well-being.

She described the manifesto of Democratic Progressive Party through the proven Leadership of Professor Peter Mutharika in making sure that every person has rights.

One of the beneficiaries, Moffat Chimbwala hailed the foundation for it's continued support to people living with albinism.

On 6 August 2026, the Dr. Jane Ansah Foundation donated agricultural inputs and business empowerment items to farmers from the Lunyina and Chipofya Irrigation Schemes, as well as other vulnerable individuals under Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in Rumphi District.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at Kanyerere Primary School Ground, the Foundation's Founder, Her Honour Dr. Jane Ansah, said the donation was aimed at complementing Government efforts to strengthen food security and support productive farmers and vulnerable households.

Dr. Ansah said the Foundation's interventions also align with the vision of His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of Malawi, to build a hunger-free Malawi by empowering communities through sustainable agricultural production and improved livelihoods.

She commended local farmers for embracing irrigation farming, describing it as a sustainable response to the climate challenges highlighted by this year's El Niño conditions. She emphasized that irrigation is key to achieving year-round agricultural production.

Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe thanked the Foundation for the timely support and pledged continued collaboration in the fight against hunger.

Rumphi Central Member of Parliament Dr. Matthews Chinombo Mtumbuka and Councilor Alfred Butao also praised the initiative and encouraged communities to embrace irrigation farming to improve household food and economic security.

The donation included bags of fertilizer, maize, soya and bean seed, bicycles, and sewing machines. The intervention is expected to benefit at least 5,000 farmers and vulnerable people in the area.

The Dr. Jane Ansah Foundation remains committed to empowering communities, strengthening livelihoods, and contributing to sustainable agricultural development across Malawi.

Vice President Dr Jane Mayemu Ansah is today, August 6, presiding over the distribution of relief items to vulnerable households in the area of Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe in Rumphi District through the Dr Jane Ansah Foundation.

The initiative is aimed at complementing government efforts to assist food-insecure families and improve their welfare.

During the visit, Dr Ansah is also expected to engage with local cooperatives and encourage them to increase food production as part of efforts to strengthen household food and economic security.

Bringing Warmth and Hope to Vulnerable Communities in Zomba

As temperatures continue to drop, the Jane Ansah Foundation, through its founder, Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah, on Saturday extended a helping hand to vulnerable members of the community in Zomba by donating blankets, clothes, and assorted food items.

The beneficiaries included people with short stature, persons with albinism, older persons, and persons with various disabilities.

Speaking during the donation, Dr. Ansah said the Foundation was prompted to distribute blankets after recognising the hardships many vulnerable people face during the cold season. She noted that the blankets would provide much-needed warmth and comfort while reaffirming the Foundation's commitment to promoting the dignity, welfare, and inclusion of vulnerable members of society.

Dr. Ansah further said the Foundation complements the Malawi Government's social protection efforts and supports the vision of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika of ensuring that every citizen, regardless of physical condition or social status, is treated equally and given an opportunity to realise their full potential.

Zomba Deputy Mayor Anthony Gonani commended the Foundation for the timely intervention, emphasizing that every person deserves equal treatment, respect, and opportunities irrespective of disability or physical stature.

Senior Chief Chikanda expressed gratitude to Dr. Ansah for reaching out to vulnerable people in his area and encouraged the Foundation to continue supporting people with short stature, persons with disabilities, and other disadvantaged members of society.

The donation forms part of the Jane Ansah Foundation's ongoing humanitarian initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable communities across Malawi.
