The Dr Jane Ansah Foundation is poised to bring relief to families affected by the recent floods in Mangochi, as it prepares to distribute 1000 bags of maize flour to those in need. The foundation's team is already on the ground, working tirelessly to ensure that the aid reaches the most vulnerable families.

This initiative is a testament to the foundation's commitment to supporting communities in times of crisis. The floods have left many families without food, shelter, and access to basic necessities, making the foundation's intervention a much-needed lifeline.

The distribution exercise is expected to bring hope to hundreds of families who have been struggling to make ends meet. The foundation's efforts are a reminder that there are still individuals and organizations committed to making a difference in the lives of those affected.

More details about the distribution exercise are expected to emerge in the coming days, as the foundation continues its efforts to support the flood-affected families. On Thursday, 12 March, the Dr Jane Ansah Foundation donated various items to elderly people, persons with albinism and persons with disabilities at Tiwafikile Cooperative in the area of Traditional Authority Chingala in Lilongwe District.

The items donated included bags of flour, clothes, bicycles, hats and skin lotion for people with albinism. Vice President Dr Jane Mayemu Ansah, who is also Founder of the Foundation, said the initiative is part of an ongoing programme aimed at supporting vulnerable communities across the country and helping them meet their basic needs.

Dr Ansah explained that the Foundation was established in 2010 when she began working closely with people with albinism in Mitundu, Lilongwe, and has since expanded its outreach to other districts. The Foundation is also supporting young people pursuing technical and vocational skills such as welding, plumbing, video production and tailoring.

Empowering farmers, securing Malawi's future: Dr. Jane Ansah Foundation takes root

In a significant move to bolster food security, the Dr. Jane Ansah Foundation has launched an initiative to support cassava farming in Lilongwe's Mitundu area. The foundation has distributed farm implements to the Tiafikile Cooperative, marking a key step towards empowering vulnerable communities.

The foundation's efforts focus on promoting sustainable farming practices, with a particular emphasis on crops like cassava, bananas, beans, and hot chili. By supporting farmers in Mitundu, the foundation aims to enhance food production and contribute to Malawi's self-sufficiency.

Drawing on lessons from its work with the BOMFA Cooperative in Kasungu, the foundation has registered 85 beneficiaries in Mitundu, who will benefit from training and tools to boost their cassava yields. Dr. Jane Ansah, the foundation's founder, has long championed sustainable farming and food security, and this initiative underscores her commitment to empowering marginalized communities.

Through its work, the Dr. Jane Ansah Foundation seeks to create a ripple effect, enhancing economic empowerment and food security across Malawi.
