Palliative Care Support Trust

Palliative Care Support Trust A charitable trust supporting palliative care services in Malawi.

Palliative Care Support Trust (PCST), established in 2005 under the Trustees Act, is dedicated to supporting, developing, and promoting the delivery of palliative care services at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) and in the surrounding communities. Since its inception, PCST has worked to ensure that individuals facing life-limiting illnesses receive compassionate and comprehensive care. In

line with its mandate, PCST actively supports two key palliative care clinics within QECH: Tiyanjane Clinic, which caters to adults, and Umodzi Clinic, which provides care for children. While PCST was officially incorporated in 2005, these two clinics have been operational since 2001, serving the community with critical palliative care services. Since 2010, PCST has taken on the administrative responsibility for managing and ensuring the effective delivery of services at both clinics, enhancing the scope and reach of care. The two clinics—Tiyanjane and Umodzi—are vital components of the broader palliative care network within the Blantyre District Health Office (DHO), and PCST continues to lead efforts in improving access to quality palliative care services for both adults and children in the region.
