Mr Haward has learned that western medication helps defeat Epilepsy over traditional medicine and it is more effective. His son has been battling Epilepsy for over 30 years and has affected his family economically in trying to seeik for treatment from African traditional Doctors. Later in 2020, he heard of chifundo Epilepsy Foundation center and he came on the first day of the Clinic where we usually meet hundreds patients for their free antiseizure medication. Now it is a different story as his son gradually gained his milestone and he continue to attend our Epilepsy Clinics faithfully.

When Mr maulana came for the help at our Epilepsy centre, he was having 20 seizures daily.

Chifundo epilepsy centre doesn’t shy away helping elderly like Mr Maulana who can not walk great distance as he only uses cratches towards hospital at a distance of 18 kilometers. Though he still cannot walk a great distance, he suffers seizures. He faithfully attend our Epilepsy clinic every month near his home through our Epilepsy outreach programs which makes him a shining example we are proud of at the Foundation as he gained his milestone of seizures free.

Young people, elderly and physically challenged may find traveling to a government health clinic challenging because of the long distances of approximate of 18 kilometers and they need to take time off from school or work – that’s why chifundo Epilepsy Foundation center bringing health services closer to young people, eldery and those living with physical disabilities!.

This lady is in follow up for her Epilepsy at chifundo Epilepsy Centre in chikwawa, Malawi. Since 5 years, here she is still welcomed and receives all the care she Needs for free every month. She has seven children.She lives 35 kilometers far from Chifundo Epilepsy centre and she walks because she has no money for transport 14000 about €7. Her monthly earning is 30000. The cost of life has much increased in the past 2years as for fuel and food with a huge devaluation of the local currency chifundo Epilepsy in collaboration with donor support, provides excellent treatment and the care to all patients, a Blessing for all.

The girl battling Epilepsy in school!!

We don’t always get the opportunity to see the long term impact of something we are part of. Over the last few days, chifundo Epilepsy Foundation has been catching a glimpse into the impact of its efforts over the past 4 years.

Chifundo Epilepsy Foundation center is for diagnosing, treating and enhancing learning support programs more specific for children. As a charity, our aim for 2024 is to raise funds to support lives saving clinics at the Foundation towards having the positive impact in the lives of Malawian children and their families.

Maria is one of the shining examples at our Foundation who we have helped to become seizures free and she is able to go to school. With her grandmother, faithfully continue attend our clinics every month

The first ever designated Epilepsy clinic was held at our Foundation centre in chikwawa.

Epilepsy is a major obstacle to patients’ wellbeing if not treated well; for example burns are common if people have recurrent attacks and it may be difficult to hold a job. Research in Malawi has shown that constant availability of the right drugs is the biggest problem in controlling the disease. Chifundo epilepsy foundation centre is committed to achieve that for patients.see the lines of patients waiting for their medication

Monthly, 400 patients battling Epilepsy in our rural community relys on chifundo Epilepsy Centre for their life saving antiseizure medication. Here is one of the shining examples that chifundo epilepsy foundation is prouding of.! Twice a month we hold Epilepsy Clinics at our main centre in chikwawa . Sometimes as many as 400+ people show up to see the doctor or clinical officer and to receive treatment. Yakobe and khundizo have been faithfully attending our clinic since 2019, they both now 4 year seizures free. Chifundo, the founder and CEO for this small charity and the Donor support cerebrates with these two young men for gaining their milestone.

Another Shining examples at chifundo epilepsy foundation centre as we are trying hard with determination to change the stories in lives of so many children battling Epilepsy in Malawi Africa. Chisomo is now 3 year seizure free and proud of it! She achieved this milestone through regular visists at chifundo epilepsy centre faithfully with her mom to access free antiepileptic drugs. As the Foundation together with the Donor support, we are happy to see her attending our nursery School too.
