Kuunika Foundation

Kuunika Foundation KF is a local charity that supports orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and their communities in an undeveloped settlement in suburban Blantyre, Malawi.

Kuunika Foundation is headed by a Board of Trustees that appoints members of the management team that manages the implementation of the different projects. Support on all levels is received from the organization’s advisors, as well as from Friends of Kuunika Foundation in the UK. KF is centered around the Kuunika OVC Care Center, that supports about 100 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) from w

ithin the catchment area. KF’s goal is to develop the capacity of the Center, to enable it to be the hub of various projects. The organization aspires to become a model of best practice, hoping this model will demonstrate the possibilities for sustainable impact on child rights and welfare with full community involvement, with a view to it being shared and adopted by other organizations and projects throughout Malawi. KF aims to achieve this through an integrated approach to nutrition, public and formal education, family health, HIV/AIDS prevention, gender equality and economic empowerment. Kuunika Foundation is registered with the Trustee Incorporation Act of Malawi (TR/INC 4017), the Blantyre City Council (registration no. BTC/1206/195). Friends of Kuunika Foundation was founded in UK, in order to support the activities of Kuunika Foundation. It was registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR, charitiy no. SC040485) on 13th May 2009. It has also been registered as a charity for tax purposes with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC, gift aid reference no. ST01001) which allows for eligible donors to reclaim taxes on cash donations.
